看过了哈,可能我的有些观点不全面哦!
The author claims that the future of society is determined by how children are socialized, and we do not know how to raise children who can help give us a better society. At the first glance, the author's assertion seems to be somewhat convincing, but further reflection shows that it is not advisable and ignores several compelling arguments. In my point of view, I tend to agree with the last half part of the author's claim but not the first half part, which can be substantiated by the following discussions.(很清楚的提出自己观点)
In the first place, the reason why I have such a view is that people are different from each other. Every person has his own interests and abilities -- the people are all individuals rather than machines -- so we should not treat people under the same socialized rules. (这句话有点别扭,你是不是想说我们不能评价所有人都用standard of socialization?)A particular example for this is the Van Gogh, who is the one of the world's best known, best-loved and most expensive artists. Two of Van Gogh's still life paintings have recently broken all records in selling for $50 million. But Van Gogh could not be seen as a socialized people because he sold only one of his paintings in his entire career and was driven to an early suicide by lack of recognition for his genius. Therefore we should not judge people by how socialized they are, and then we could not determine the destiny of society by how children are socialized.(Van Gogh的例子用得很好,可是要多提点他对社会的贡献可能会更好点,呵呵)
Moreover, a further reason that must be taken into consideration is the children's variable interests and abilities. The childhood of people is For example, some children may love football or singing and dream to become football stars or famous singers, but find they are good at mathematics or physics when they grow up and choose scientists or engineers as their careers. In short, judging how people are socialized in their childhood is too early and useless.
(难道你是想说我们可以等孩子长大后在对他们社会化吗?可是这个和你前段认为社会化不重要有些冲突哈!)
To the contrary, if all the children are raised as the socialized characters they should be, our society will have no future. If all the children are taught in the socialized ways they are planed to, they will have little freedom and chance to choose what they really like and want, and then they will lose their creativities and imaginations. Socialized people can hardly break the society's existing rules, so the bad sides of the society cannot be found and broken. Under this circumstance, it is difficult for the society to step forward.(社会化好像不会僵化我们的培养目标哦!)
Indeed, we have not yet known how to teach our children to build a better society, because it is almost impossible to define what a better society is. One society suitable for some people may hurt the others. What we only can do is try to bring about a free, even world, which people hanker after generation by generation. We cannot tell children what we have not known yet.
In sum, from what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that the destiny of society should not be determined by how children are socialized and we have not known the way to raise children to bring about a better society.
