66)Some universities require students to take classes in many subjects. Other universities require students to specialize in one subject. Which is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
As we know, there are two kinds of education notions; first, students are passed on knowledge merely about their subjects, and the second, students are required to register courses not only which are related to their subjects but also which are generally courses in university. As far as I am concerned, it is not reasonable to oblige students to either only choose courses about their or merely pick up courses in broad subjects. On the contrary, universities should arrange students' courses according to their types such as undergraduate students and graduate students.
In the first place, with a wide spectrum of knowledge in variety of subjects is beneficial to undergraduate students because it will broaden their horizon. Wide eyesight can contribute undergraduate students to making sensible choices about their future after graduate like going to graduate college, changing their majors or planning personal career. Generally speaking, undergraduate students are lack of acquaintance with distinct subjects in universities. If universities enforce students to choose courses only in their related and limited subjects, it is difficult for them to be access to knowledge in other subjects. However, universities can not guarantee that all students will be fitted to the subjects which they have chosen resulting from lack of comparison with other subjects.
Second, graduate students should learn related courses to their subjects because the demand of cultivation to them is to make them specialize in specific subjects. Only through learning as more as possible courses in their subjects, they can become excellent in their academic areas. However, if universities require them to choose a number of courses in other subjects, they will spend relative less time on their own subjects. It is clear that these students would tend to be less proficient than those who only study courses in their own subjects. Therefore, specializing in one subject is necessary for graduate students on account of their study characteristic: career study.
All in all, I think universities should consider students' courses arrangement on the basis of their study stages: undergraduate students, many subjects; graduate students, narrow range of courses. And I believe it will be helpful for the improvement of students' achievement both currently and in the long term.
