TOPIC: ISSUE153 - "Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively."
WORDS: 540

Whether students should be required to have a skepticism in their study or just passively accept the knowledge imparted by the school. In response to this issue, we need to analyze the proposition comprehensively from the dialectic perspective, taking the function of education into account and considering what the society children bring to us would be like. The final judgment, in my point of view, should depend on a serious analysis.

One of the educational aims is to render students deeply thinking and completely analyzing instead of only understanding the knowledge taught by their teachers and reciting their textbooks. Owning the capability of critical thinking has been proved to reflect this person can independently think, analyse question and then make his own judgment. The student could put forward a doubt about the subject imparted in the class only when he or she meditates in the subject. In order to solve this problem, the student should read a lot of relevant books, search for a large number of materials and even make a great deal of investigations. During this process, students who doubt and challenge for what they learn actively participate within the learning activity, and this experience can help them to have  deep impressions and retain the results which they might use in the future study and research. Therefore, more and more schools put much emphasis on the cultivation of students’ skepticism.

Meanwhile, skepticism sometimes means the innovation in the realm of science and technology, which is also the original source of the development of this realm. Considering the rigor of science, it can be simply thought as to the organized form of skepticism. If a scientist takes the result and research from others for granted and never doubt the validity of these evidences, he can never make any breakthrough in this field. A notable case in this point is that Willm Harvey(1587-1657), English physician, who discovered the circulation of the blood and the role of the heart in propelling it, thus refuting the theories of Calen and laying the foundation for modern physiology. Harvey's De Motu Cordis subjected him to severe criticism by some contemporaries, but this was more than compensated for by the later widespread recognition of his contribution. Because Harvey's skeptic thought about Gallen's theory, we can not enter into the new era of the modern physiology.

Finally, so as to a society, the skepticism of the masses may be a efficacious solution to our lasting problems, whereas the silence of the populace and the intentional laudation of the people may seriously threaten the stability of the society. Simply put, without skepticism of the masses, our society would find itself bogged down in the Sargasso sea of deficiency of democracy. Only living in the society where people have skeptical thinking and are allowed to present freely, we can enjoy the life brought by the atmosphere of the democracy.

In conclusion, the students are not going to be students forever. They will be researchers, scholars, engineers, politicians and may be the president. As the importance of skepticism discussed above, it is of particular significance to cultivate their critical thinking skills and free students from the limitations of the predecessors' experiences for their future career and a better society.

One of the educational aims(感觉不好, 但也不知道怎么改) is to render students deeply thinking and completely analyzing instead of(rather than是不是好点) only understanding the knowledge taught by their teachers and reciting their textbooks. Owning the capability of critical thinking has been proved to reflect this person can independently think, analyse question and then make his own judgment. The student could put forward a doubt about the subject imparted in the class only when he or she meditates in the subject. Only living in the society where people have skeptical thinking and are allowed to present freely, we can enjoy the life(lives?) brought by the atmosphere of the democracy.
(两段之间空一行就行了, 段首不用空格, 就像写email一样)

(最好能点下前面你提到的几个论点)
