103"The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives."

Nowadays, in the world full of practicality and pragmatism, I am force to concede that the speaker’s statement that study of history must serve as our daily lives is accepted and appreciated by most of people. However, the speaker ignoring the two compelling facts that we, for some studies of history, can not know whether these studies are tied up to our daily lives until we have worked out the result and that other similar studies irrelevant to our daily lives are of value as well.   

History largely reflects a change of culture and society in a particular area, that is, is constituted of predecessor’s behavior and mind. Predecessor’s experience is precious legacy for us to mirror our mistakes and offer apt guidance, especial as to our daily lives. Thereby, through the research of history, the more valuable predecessor’s experience would put forth our life. Reflect on the Chinese idiom called ChengYu, which comprise four or eight Chinese characters. Although every of them are short, a deeply philosophical principle or experience of daily life may be hidden after it. And most of them are historical story. Chinese ancestors transmit their own history and experiences of daily life depend on such simple method. And such case is not egregious in other nations or races and just the transmitting pattern is different. So the study of history is of importance for of our daily life, as to that we obtain the worthful historical experience.

However, any research result is uncertain until we do it, and the result of studying history is not exceptional. Without the endeavor of those researchers, we impossibly access achievement, which then prove to be relevant to our daily life or not. The convincing fact is that most of research about history is sound research benefiting us, and there are few of research for itself sake without vague object. At the same time, we should be circumspect about that the results of study of, although have to do with our daily lives, so excessively weird that it totally betray the social underpinning.

On the other hand, the statement overemphasize that the research of history serves our daily life, while overlook the more merit of it for our society as whole. In fact, these historical events recorded are the great issues than the one’s life specifics. That means to research history must consider the entire social circumstance and national situation, and the research result often is irrelevant to our daily life. For example, the result of studying history about war includes less experience of daily life, for reason that we cannot directly use this result to affect our daily life. Perhaps someone argue that such research attempt to tell us that war is terrible and thought this ameliorate our daily life. Yet, such people neglect the fact that such influence firstly serves our all society, and then the result becomes a social concept, which influence every member of the society. For every member, before result changes, it is still nonsensical. In other word, it irrelevant to our daily life, let alone that it is of direct value for common.

In sum, I agree with speaker that the history research should be close to our daily life. After all, how to improve the quality of our life is our most concern, we should take account for the relationship between the research, not only historical research, and improving the quality of our life. Nevertheless, speaker should not certainly consider such relationship as the only criterion that judge whether the historical research is valuable or not, while ignore the historical research’s other function.

这篇习作从整体上看，个人感觉逻辑、结构的问题不大，但是第二段内容的安排值得探讨。

从第二段的结尾句So the study of history is of importance for of our daily life, as to that we obtain the worthful historical experience来看，本段应该是论述历史对我们日程生活是重要的，不过全段的内容基本是描述研究历史的作用。另外，我感觉这段举的例子也不是很合适。成语传承了哲学理论和经验，这能说明什么？好像和这段要分析论证的内容没关系。你的意思是不是学习成语中的历史能带来教育意义？但从表述中好像没发现这层意思。
