The author concludes that the Woven baskets were not unique to Palea. To justify this conclusion, the author cites that this baskets had appeared in Brim, and this two prehistoric villages have been divided by a river which is very deep and broad that can not be crossed without a boat, but the boat have been developed after the Palea people disappeared who have no reason to carry cargos across the river because of the nuts and small animals in Palea. The author’s argument is flawed in several critical respects.

To begin with, the author assuming that the basket was unique in Palea because it apparent in Brim, and they can not across the river between them. The author overlooks the possibility that the people come from Palea have business in the upriver, and throw a basket into the river by mistake and then the basket has been gotten by the Brim people, because the author do not mentioned how many baskets have found in the Brim.

Secondly, the author unfairly assumes that there are no boat for a large number of people and cargoes. However, there may be raft in the river, and the basket has been used as a kind of gift in stead of the kind of bargain. Unless the author tell us the water runs fast in the river, we can not overlook the exist of the raft.

Thirdly, even if the water runs very fast in the river, and people can not use any boats or rafts, the author can not say that people have no idea to across the river, may be they use the arrow that make a cord above the river, and people could use the cord went to the other side of the river. Could the author prove that there was no cord ever before?

Finally, the author unfairly assumes that people have no reason went across the river just because of the food. I think the author is too puerility to forget that people do not born just for the food, may be it was love, a boy in the Palea will married a girl comes from the Brim, and the basket is the gift that the boy prepared.

In sum, the argument is unpersuasive as it stands. To convince me that the author must give enough reasons to prove that the people did not have business in the upriver, and the water runs so fast that a raft can not drive in it, people can not use cord for communications and the residents in the have no intercourse between the two villages…I would need more information about this discover.
