65.The following appeared in a memo from the president of a chain of
cheese stores located throughout the United States.

"For many years all the stores in our chain have stocked a wide variety of
both domestic and imported cheeses. Last year, however, the five
best-selling cheeses at our newest store were all domestic cheddar cheeses
from Wisconsin. Furthermore, a recent survey by Cheeses of the World
magazine indicates an increasing preference for domestic cheeses among its
subscribers. Since our company can reduce expenses by limiting inventory,
the best way to improve profits in all of our stores is to discontinue
stocking many of our varieties of imported cheese and concentrate
primarily on domestic cheeses."

The argument shows the fact that domestic cheddar cheeses from Wisconsin has became the five best-selling cheeses at their newest store and then cites the result of a recent survey conducted by Cheeses of the World, which indicates an increasing preference for domestic cheeses among its subscribers. Based on these evidences, the argument concludes that the best way to improve profits in all of their stores is to discontinue stocking imported cheeses and concentrate primarily on domestic cheeses, since the company can reduce expenses by limiting inventory. This argument seems reasonable at first glance, but it suffers from several logical fallacies as I discussed below.
First of all, the analogy between the company’s newest store and the other stores of the chain, which the argument's assumption, that domestic cheeses are sold better than the imported ones, relies on, is a false one. There is no evidence shows that the newest store and the other stores have the some kind of environment involving the selling of cheeses. It is probably a special preference of people in the area which the newest store situated for domestic cheeses made the domestic cheeses the five best-selling last year. Or perhaps the fact that people there cannot afford the higher prices of imported cheeses result in a comparatively lower sale. Therefore, the argument cannot confidently draw the assumption that domestic cheeses are sold better than the imported ones at all of their stores.
Secondly, the argument gratuitous assumes that the considerable sale of cheddar cheeses from Wisconsin represent all the situation of domestic cheeses. Yet, the argument fails to offer any evidence to prove this assumption. It is entirely possible that the cheeses from Wisconsin have a much better quality and taste than any other domestic cheeses. Or it might be the one and the only kind of cheeses sells better than the imported ones. If so, the speaker's assumption will be quite doubtful.
Finally, even if we admitted that the domestic cheeses are all sold better than
the imported cheeses at all the stores of the company, the argument's conclusion are unpersuasive, since the arguer overlooks many other ways to improve profits besides to discontinue stocking imported cheese and concentrate primarily on domestic cheeses. Instead of reducing expenses of the company, trying to attract more customers or establishing some new kinds of cheeses, which may sale better and be more profitable than the old kinds, might be better choices the company have. The argument also lacks the evidence shows that the better sale of domestic cheddar cheeses from Wisconsin have earn more profit than the imported cheeses, when there is a possibility that each one of the imported cheeses are much profitable than the domestic one as there is only little differences between the sale of the best and the imported ones.  For that matter, the argument’s suggestion will not be the best choices for the company.
To sum up, the argument’s conclusion is unconvincing as it stands. The council must provide evidence to prove the newest store and the other stores have the some kind of condition. Also, more details about the sale of other kind of domestic cheeses are needed. Moreover, the argument must show more evidences to convince me that the method it offer is better than any other possible choices.

(呵呵,楼主的开头不是先谈结论阿,个人感觉还是先谈结论比较好,因为evidence and assumption没有结论重要哈)

First of all,
the analogy between the company’s newest store and the other stores of the chain, which the argument's assumption, that domestic cheeses are sold better than the imported ones, relies on, is a false one.(恩嗯这个句子好复杂啊,可以借鉴) There is no evidence shows that the newest store and the other stores have the same kind of environment involving the selling of cheeses. It is probably a special preference of people in the area where the newest store locates for domestic cheeses made the domestic cheeses the five best-selling last year. Or perhaps the fact that people there cannot afford the higher prices of imported cheeses results in a comparatively lower sale. (楼主看来很适合写长句子阿,但是感觉长短搭配会更好) Therefore, the arguer cannot confidently draw the assumption that domestic cheeses are sold better than the imported ones at all of their stores.

Yet, the argument fails to offer any evidence to prove this assumption. It is entirely possible that the cheeses from Wisconsin have a much better quality and taste than any other domestic cheeses. Instead of reducing expenses of the company, trying to attract more customers or
bring in some new kinds of cheeses, which may sale better and be more profitable than the old kinds, might be better choices the company have.(引进新品种的话我觉得库存量还是应该适当减少的) The argument also lacks the evidence shows that the better sale of domestic cheddar cheeses from Wisconsin have earn more profit than the imported cheeses, when there is a possibility that in average the imported cheeses are much profitable than the domestic one as there is only little differences between the sale of the best and the imported ones.  For that matter, the argument’s suggestion will not be the best choices for the company.

To sum up, the argument’s conclusion is unconvincing as it stands. The council must provide evidence to prove the newest store and the other stores
