Is it just like what the speaker asserts that any means taken to attain the worthy goal are all justifiable? It will be unreasonable for one to judge whether a goal is worthwhile without considering the possible cost of attaining it. The cost here obviously including the possible efforts you spend and means you may have to take in order to achieve the aim. However, after comparing the costs and benefits in this action, which may be called as "The pursuit of goal" action, you can describe the goal as worthy, or judge the means as justifiable, in a much more logical basis.
In my opinion, as long as the goals and the costs paid to attain the goal are worthy in one's own system of value judgment. It is reasonable to agree with the speaker's assertion that the means are justifiable. For example, Bruno, who lost life on the way to pursuing truth, may considered by others as a unreasonable in their own personal judgment. However, as far as I concerned, Bruno himself had never regret for what he has down even just before the moment he dead because that is just what he devoted his whole life to: "For the truth but struggle, is a biggest fun of life." Therefore, it is sometimes justifiable to do whatever it takes to pursue the worthy goal on your mind; even many others consider it as stupid or inapprehensible.
Nevertheless, some of the so-called worthy goals may be selfish and harmful to other individuals or the society as a whole. In this case, we cannot still claim that any means taken are justifiable because the goals are only worthy in someone’s own mind.
Sometimes, one man's desire and ambition can be really horrible and may cause damage can never be redeemed. Hitler’s worthy goal to dominate the whole world, for instance. To satisfy his own personal interests, tens of millions of people died in the World War Two. Accordingly, how can we claim any means to be justifiable, if they are taken to fulfill the goals that only fit for one's own judgment as worthy, while many of the innocent people will be hurt because of them.
Admittedly, we cannot always estimate the possible lost and gain we have before we start to make a movement. But, on the way to pursue the goal, which we generally consider as worthy before the movement, if we find that the means we have to take next step may cost too much, like violating our own personal principles. What should we do? In my point of view, in this situation, as long as the means are supposed to be legitimated and appropriate, without intentional harm to anybody else, the decisions are all depend on your own judgment. If not, common sense tell us we human beings always have to learn one thing called "Giving up".         
To sum up, we have to know the possible lost and gain the goal and means bring to us if we want to define them as worthy or justifiable. In addition, if the lost and gain are beyond the estimation, we have to keep a eye on every step on the way to pursue the goal and make decisions by the social standard, both legal and moral, and our own judgments of value.
