题目：ISSUE221 - "The chief benefit of the study of history is to break down the illusion that people in one period of time are significantly different from people who lived at any other time in history."

Is it just like what the speaker asserts that the people in different period of time are nerly the same? The answer would be "No". On the other hand, the chief benefit we have in the study of history is not only to find the difference between people live in the past and us, neither the commonness, but both of them.
To begin with, the denying of the great many of differences between people in one period of time and other time, especially when compared people nowadays and in the past, will be considered as unreasonable. Because it is so obvious that environment and lives what people have today are still dramatically changing because of the fast development of both technology and culture. It is impossible for one to claim that people are nearly the same as hundreds of years ago when we have modern transportation but they do not; we have freedom to express our own opinion but some of them even have not got the chance to be educated. Of course we are significantly different from our ancestors live in another period of time.
Though the many differences we have with our forefather, the main purpose of study history is not only to find them. On the contrary, the commonness we share with the people and society in the past time is rather important for us today. We must learn from the history in order not to repeat the mistake in the history. The German government, learned from world war 2, realized that the chauvinism are harmful, so they have effective action to restrict the resurgence of Nazism in the purpose to not have the same mistake they committed. It is a good example to explain the usage of commonness in the study of history.
However, only to research on the mutual things can not represent the chief benefits of study of history. The main purposes of study history, besides taking care not to commit the same mistake, are to have a better understanding of our society today and to estimate the possible future of our society as a whole. In this case, it is both important for us to do research on the differences and commonness. The changes of society and people have their own rules, just  like the rules of nature to some extend. The history serves as a method for us human being today to take these rules in control. The birth and death of a country tell us some experience of regulations of one; every step of a civilization shows us how to advance our own culture.
We have to learn from the past trough the difference and commonness to build our own splendid now and future.

感觉论述的不够充分，逻辑衔接不是特别贴切。是不是点开题才开始思考怎么写的？
建议如果要限时的话先把提纲列一下，因为考试的时候肯定是大多数题目都列过提纲了。这个时间必须省下来 for we are not native speakers.
