Advertisement is one of the promotion measures to publicize a product or a spirit, the genera of which varies from commercial advertisement for a company to public service announcementand the like. Since they all intend to promote something, I'm agree with the statement that advertisements are always nicer than they really are.
When it comes to the inconsistencybetween ads and the fact, the commercial one always stand in the breach. With the rapid growth in competitive severeness among companies producing similar goods, the marketing strategy seems critical in almost every field. Based on this purpose, businessmen tend to make a nicer advertisement to proclaim the qualities of his products, averting the weaknesses. For instance, the promotion of a fast food restaurant may state that they put abundant kinds vegetables and fruits in its sandwich to make people have a balanced diet. However, the total amount of these vegetables probably too small to make any difference. This legal promotion makes the product appears healthier than what it really is.
Another kind of advertisement is recruitment advertising. As with the commercial one, the advertisers also evading some disadvantages of the work for(?) want. Taking the job of excavating construction materials as an example, the advertiser would promise a certain level of salary in the newspaper, not including the health danger in lungs it may cause when packaging the limestone.
Some of you may argue that public service announcement does not have any commercial purpose, why is this kind of ads also nicer than the reality? An usual form of public service announcement is presenting an ideal situation that everyone care about each other, donating blood, speaking in a low voice when seeing a baby asleep in his mother's bosom. It is because it's an ideal situation, there is always someone that not willing to do so, the public service advertisement is needed. So this kind of ads is also more beautiful than the real world.
In a word, advertisement is nicer than the reality. But it doesn't prevent it from help humans sharing information with each other, what we need to do is realizing the intension in each promotion and discerning the reality and the ads. |
