Is it more important for a teacher to help students gain self-confidence than to teach
specific knowledge?

From my experience, I want to say that being a teacher helping students gain self-
confidence is more important than to teach specific knowleage. What I have learned from
school is not only specific knowledge but also how to be confident. Such positive attitude
will promote good development in the future.

According to my life in a university, I realized that lacking of  self-confidencet can affect my
studying. When I entered a university two years ago, I was a girl of few words
because I came from a small villeage and it was my first time to step into a big morden
city. I sunk into Self-contempt. In the first year, I led a quiet life and had little
cantact with others.I just wanted to focus on my study. Gradually, some students thought I
was a bookworm and too dull. They isolated me and even mocked me.I began to feel depressed
and the prombles haunting my mind all day. Finally I could not concentrate on my books. No
matter what the teacher taught in the class, my mind kept blank. Obviously, taking into
account my experience, a teacher should help students gain self-confidence first, thus they
could perform well in studying specific knowledge.

On the other hand, confident students usually can obtain better opportunities in employment
maket. As we know, teachers' task is to help students make good preparation against future
career. Although teaching specific knowledge is very important, building self-confidence is
a key part because when we graduate from a university, social communication play an
important role in personal development. Only we are more confident, we believe ourself can
accomplish whatever we confront, can others put more trust in us.  

To sum up, I deeply support that good students, besides studying hard, they have to be
confident and sustain this positive attitude that will contribute a great deal to
develoment in every respect. There is no doubt that teachers should pay more attention to
bulid students' self-confidence.

Good composition for first try. Examples from personal experience is better than those of famous persons in that they are closer to ourlife, thus more convincing. Structure is complete. Ideas are conveyed in a clear and organized way. Improvement can be made in polishing language. It is much better using simple sentences than long, complicated but grammatically wrong ones.

Sorry for not being able to use Chinese to make comments. I don't know what is wrong with my computer.
