An undisputable fact is that cooperation isbecoming an enormous impetus to our society, and it will continue to profoundly influence our world in the future. There are two reasons for this phenomenon.

The first reason is due to thespecialization of skills and social division of the labors. In the past some certain jobs, for example, tea producing which is popular in my country China can be accomplished by single man or a small group of workers. However due to the development of the society such as the growth of trade and more demand for the production, the way of independent working became inefficient. In order to raise the efficiency and make more profit, workers are separated into different groups with specialized skills. Take the tea producing for illustration again.Nowadays the producing process is divided into three stages. First the farmers collect the tea leaves and then sell them to the tea producing factory.Secondly the factories make tea from the raw materials in the assembly lines.Thirdly these productions are distributed to everywhere through the trade network and are sold to the customers by the merchants. Because of this specialization of the skills and social division, to cooperate is not optional but mandatory. Without cooperation, no one can fulfill this job independently.

The second reason why the ability tocooperate is more important than past is due to the miracles of modern technology. In the past people are only aware the small world around him and are limited to the small scale of cooperation with familiars. The modern technology changes this situation. With the development of new communication technology like the Internet people from different places can work together. So one's ability to cooperate with others can bring him more information from more people, which certainly will benefit him a lot.

In summary, I would say the ability to cooperate is more important than past because two reasons. The number one reason is the specialization of the skills and social division which makes cooperation among people necessary, and the number two reason is the due to the progress of modern technology which makes cooperation within the whole world possible.
