With the fast development of people's living standard, various kinds of entertaiments（entertainments） emerge, movies included. Some people prefer amusing movies because they make people laugh and relieve the pressure from work and study, while others prefer serious movies for the reason that they could teach people something valuable. Personally, I would choose the serious ones for the following reasons.

The first and foremost reason is that some of the serious movies reflect the concealed reality of a society. Unlike most directors who are concentrate on most people's interests and the profits their films could bring to the companies, there exit some directors who would rather choose some serious stories about the poor and disabled. For instance, "QiuJu"（例子瞎编的）-a film which describes a woman who lived in countryside struggled to earn her living and support her family. Such kind of film tells the public that there still exit such poor people that need our help and as a result raise people's awareness about caring the poor. In short, serious movies contribute to a harmonious(harmonious) society.
Another reason of my perpensity(propensity) to the serious movies involves lessons and knowledge the very kind of movies could teach us. From the historical films, people learn knowledge of their country's history while watching the screen. From the war-related films, people learn how crucial and detrimental the war is and realize the significance about peace of the world. Thus, serious films could indeed teach us something.
Furthermore, the reason I do not like amusing movies is that serious movies are kind of films that contend serious context which could make people to think, however, amusing movies give people nothing but to make people laugh. A few days after watching an amusing movie, people may not remember anything because it leave nothing valuable and impressive to people. In a world, the amusing movies are products but not artworks

To sum up, I like the serious movies since it goes without saying that serious movies show more advantages than the amusing movies.
