Do you agree or disagree: It's better to watch the serious movie that help people thinking than to watch movies that could amuse and entertain people? Movies have become one of the most popular entertainments in our lives. As the pick of the basket, movie tells extensive stories originated from life. It also then evolves to a variety of styles, in order to cater for different tastes, such as comedy, tragedy, action, romance, Sci-Fi, you can capture whichever you want. Among those, some are serious, others are entertaining. Actually, in my opinion, it is better for the people to watch serious movies. Admittedly, no matter which kind of movie we watch, we could enjoy it for relaxation because watching movie helps us escape from the real world and step into role player’s world. It is true that watching comedian Stephen Chow’s action movie amuses us a lot. Whenever we saw he acted in a curious way and speak in a discontinuous tone, we kept laughing freely and loudly.
However, I want to discuss that serious movie inspires people most and also urges critical thinking of them. Watching this kind of movies is a good way to learn the serious events of history and present society, because the images showed in movie are visual and thoughtful. By watching movie about the Second World War, we are aware of the destruction toward society and disaster to citizens among the world wide human being. Take the well-known movie “The Schindler’s List” as an example. I learnt a lot from the miserable life of Jewish in the Second World War, as well as how they sustained their volition and struggled to survive, and how they protected the proud of their nation. I was struck by their spirit of perseverance.
Moreover, movies are mirrors of our lives. It seems that when you feel disappointed, watching a serious movie could strengthen your broken heart and make you inspired. When I watched movie <The Shawshank Redemption>, I was totally moved and can not calm down for a long time. The part impressed me most is when Andy got out of the jail--a hell in the world. He extended his arms in front of him in the heavy rain as if he were welcoming the fresh air and the freedom. At that moment, I saw the faith win the darkness, and light illumined his eyes in the dark blue sky. Under the light, I could feel my recreant innermost being shivered as his voice said: “Remember, Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies!” He was innocent. The jail can not close birds like him because his feathers are too bright. In conclusion, serious movie could inspired us a lot. It is more memorable for us after watching a serious movie and the influence can extend for a long time far beyond our estimation.
