The Single Molecule Force and Fluorescence Lab, Biophysics Group at Physics Department of National University of Singapore is recruiting Ph.D. and M.Sc. students URGENTLY for 2009 Spring (2009 Fall also available).

About The Single Molecule Force and Fluorescence Lab:

Our current research work is focused on exploring protein folding/refolding and protein-protein interactions at the molecular level using cutting-edge bio- and nano- technologies and ultrasensitive analytical methodology, such as atomic force microscope (AFM), scanning confocal microscope (SCM), and total internal reflection fluorescence microscope (TIRFM). With these techniques of single-molecule manipulation and detection, I expect to predigest and monitor protein systems and processes, which are usually complicated from ensemble views.
Our future plan is to apply single-molecule approaches to the study of mechanical, electronic and fluorescent properties of proteins, and to unveil the mystery of intra-and extra-cellular signaling processes. New information is expected to deliver us a higher-level understanding of biological functions and insights of disease mechanism.

About the positions:

Background in biophysics, biology, physics, chemistry, engineering or other related areas. The ideal candidates would be highly motivated, interdisciplinary, and seeking to learn cutting-edge biophysical technology. The successful candidate will be working in the study of protein folding/unfolding and protein-protein interactions, using the cutting-edge single-molecule techniques, such as AFM, scanning confocal microscope and total internal reflection microscope, etc.
