In today's world, to speak well is more important than to write well. Agree or disagree. (2007.1.16)

It has long been put into qualm in deciding whether to speak well is more important than to write well. Some people prefer the writing ability because they hold the belief that writing could be helpful when making notices and messages. However, in my point of view, speaking ability plays a more important role in today's society, when considering the significance of face to face communication and the capacity of presentation.

The first reason for my propensity to speaking ability is that face to face communication plays a key role in some situations. When we graduate from schools, we have to find a proper job. The first step we have to pass is the interview, it is said that a good interview determine whether one can get the job. As face to face communication is the most important part in an interview, a person with great capacity of speaking can no doubt leave the company a good impression and eventually gain the employment. Thus, it can be concluded that speaking ability determines our achievement in finding an ideal job.

Another essential reason of my perspective is that the ability of making an impressive presentation is now more and more important. Nowadays, to better show our ideas as well as thoughts is very crucial and the way to express these ideas to the public is to make a presentation. It is always a persuasive presentation that makes other people agree with our ideas. This point is especially important when it comes to the realm of politics. Most of the world famous leaders such as Martin Luther King, Clinton and Gandhi are able to give a great presentation. Generally speaking, because of these presentations, they obtained considerable support from the public.

Admittedly, it is undeniable that to write well has some advantages. In some situations, writing ability can help us a lot. For example, when the boss want someone to make a notice to declaim a new strategy or when a student wants to make a written request for leave, a better writing ability could help to solve these problems.

To sum up, it is true that writing has several advantages that cannot be neglected, however, in my viewpoint, the benefits of speaking well carry more weight because face to face communication and presentation are now playing an essential role in determining our future successes.
