Do you agree or disagree: The best way to travel is in a group led by a guide(2006.11.18)

Travel is no longer the exclusive province of the rich.The increasing new entrants to the middle class now pursuit not only substance but also the experiences.Group travel is widely accepted by many people because of its convenience.However,I can hardly appreciate this travel mode.In fact,the supposed convenience often turns into regret or even outrage.

People travel in group usually takes more time to assemble.You have to waste precious vacation time in waiting for others everywhere at anytime --- eating breakfast,taking tour bus, using washroom and even taking photographs! In the end, tourists often found the hectic schedule planned by the travel agency is replaced by a scattered one and thus leaving them little time to appreciate the prospect.Here's a joke vividly depict the fact of group travel: Go to sleep when you are in the bus, take photos when you leave the bus; see people's heads, hear the noise, and enjoy the chaos.

Leaving the inconvenience of group travel alone, the tour guide often mislead tourists to some so-called spectacles or shops where they could make profit. The unaware tourists spend time in overdeveloped artificial sceneries and missed the only chance to see the magnificent prospect such as sunrise --- it's a true experience of my friends.Moreover,you will experience not only the dull travel route but also the annoying service! Sometimes you are forced to change living standard from splendid hotels to small damp inns , the reason is quite straightforward and sounds pretty reasonable --- no rooms availabe. Instead of enjoy the journey, you are actually buy yourself troubles.

I suggest people travel without agency, only in museum or some certain artificial places you should consider hiring a guide to get better understanding of the background of this place.Make your own plans and book hotels by yourself. It may sounds complex and troublesome, nevertheless you can adjust the schedule whenever needed and thus find true happiness.No more waiting, no more feel of being cheated.Maybe you can happened to discover a fantastic place not even mentioned in the most detailed maps. It's time to drop the outdated group travel method and find unique travelling of your own.
