Should government spend more money in support of arts than in support of athletics? Since both aspects will bring considerable benefits to the country, it is no doubt a tough question for the government to make a decision. From my personal perspective, I would stand for the statement above with reasons I conclude as understanding of the world and prosperity of a nation.

For one thing, art is a mental work which gives people rejoices of knowing beautiful things. With art literatures, people's horizons get a chance to be widened so that they understand the world more. Just as an old saying goes, and I make a brief conclusion as, "the more arts you know, the smaller you will find yourself to be." This indicates that human being is a smart creature who keeps conquering the outside world and grabbing things of beauty. With more things he get, he find himself know less and becomes more eager to purchase beautiful things. This is called aesthetics stimulation which helps people to keep improving. Therefore, investment on arts is no doubt a stimulation of the ability of appreciating aesthetics.

For another, art is proved to be the key to prosperity of a nation. During ancient times, many countries paid great attention on art. Take Italy for example, the reason why the once-before small country became one of the greatest countries in Europe is that this country has spend so much effort on art. The government encouraged organizations to build museums and offered free tickets for people to visit. At the same time, the Medici Family, known as a very rich family, donated a lot of money to support art. Due to the government and the Medici Family’s effort, art widely spread so that this nation prospered. So, it is smart for government to spend money to support art, which is the key to a nation’s prosperity.

In summery, since art makes people understand the world better and it leads to the prosperity of a nation, it is wiser for government to support art.
