Learning is a very important task to students. To qualify(evaluate我觉得qualify一个是限定的意思,还有一个是使具有资格,貌似没有评价的意思) how well students study, grading is one of the most popular ways to be used.There are much controversy over whether grades can encourage students to study or not. In my opinion, grades not only discourage some students who do not get high grades,but also stimulate some to learn the strategy(to simply pursuit the skill我觉得这么说更能体现单一追求技巧的论述) to achieve high grade,which is not the original thing they want to get from learning(which comfliicts with their original objective of mastering knowledge and technology学习的初衷就是为了获得技术和知识,这样说就更明确了).

First(一般用firstly), low grades will frustrate some potentially successfully students who get low grades to learn(改成:low grades may frustrate students, especially those who may be excellent in the future ),.It may give them a false impression that their intelligence are low in those students. After they compare their bad results to (with, compare to 更多的是表示比喻的意思)the classmates who get good grades, they will feel much more shameful. This bad feeling is a great handicap to cultivate the confidence that they are able to learn well(such feeling is not beneficial for them to bulid up their confidence.).Some students may even discontinue their effort on study. Suppose that someone does not have the confidence to learn well,how can we estimate that he/she will study well?"Q/Z

On the other side, grades induce students to learn strategies to get high grades,not to learn well.Since high grades can give students much sense of achievements, this provides students with a strong motivation to get high grades. And it is more (much)easier to learn the the strategy to test,but not the learning content(but not pay more attention to truly master the knowledge). For example,a biology teacher gives a gist of what examination will ask,and the test contains the reasons of occurrence of phenomenon . In conclusion, grades exert negative influence to students. The educator should consider carefully their drawback when using them as a means to evaluate students.
