In contemprary society, most students are required to specify their majors once they enter universities or colleges. Yet at the same time, controversy has arisen on whether basic science classes should be made compulsory for all the university
students to take. Some people believe that basic sciences are necessary in spite of their irre levance to students’ majors. Personally speaking, Ithink their views are overly simplistic.
For one thing, specialization enables students to obtain a higher level of proficiency of the knowledge of thier particular major. Specifically, they can have more time since the time devoted on basic science can be reallocated to their majors.Considering two students of the same efficiency at their studies, the one who input more time and effort will definietly gain superior mastery of his knowledge. This in turn serves for his future carreer as companies are more interested in job applicants who gain an insight into their fields of study and thus they can make the greatest contributions.
Moreover, focusing on majors allow people to dedicate on their interests for the reason that university students always choose their majors on the basis of what they are fond of. Students aiming at ancient poetry or Western literature would feel very out of space in a course such as condensed physics or material science. From their point of view, the introduction of science classes to curriculum is absolutely a waste of their energy. This might then have a negative effect on their educational progress in general.
On the other hand, students who study basic sciences in addition to their majors are likely to be more well-rounded.Their versatility provides them with more opportunities when they sesk suitable jobs.
To conclude,I still contend that concentrating one one’s major will bing about sicnificant advantages ----the attainment of better command of knowledg and the development of one’s interests.
In contemprary (contemporary) society, most students are required to specify their majors once they enter universities or colleges. Yet at the same time, controversy has arisen on whether basic science classes should be made compulsory for all the universitystudents (students in universities) to take. Some people believe that basic sciences are necessary in spite of their irrelevance to students’ majors. Personally speaking, I think their views (view,都是一个观点) are overly simplistic.
For one thing, specialization enables students to obtain a higher level of proficiency of the knowledge of thier (their) particular major (改成 obtain a higher level of proficiency of majors 就好了,要不of 也太多了或者直接 a higher proficiency of their majors). Specifically, they can have more time since the time devoted on basic science(s) can be reallocated to their majors. Considering two students of the same efficiency at their studies, the one who input (spend好点吧) more time and (make greater) effort will definietly (definitely) gain superior mastery of his knowledge. This in turn serves for his future carreer (career) as companies are more interested in job applicants who gain an insight into their fields of study and thus they can make the greatest contributions.(用比较级吧,they can make greater contributions比较对象是用的时间少的人)
Moreover, focusing on majors allow(s) people to dedicate on their interests for the reason that university students always choose their majors on the basis of what they are fond of. Students aiming at(aim at?不知道有学某专业的意思吧,没有的话用majoring in) ancient poetry or Western literature would feel very out of space (out of space 步调不一致?dull就可以了吧) in a course such as condensed physics or material science. From their point of view, the introduction of science classes to curriculum is absolutely a waste of their energy. This might then(then放段首吧) have a negative effect on their educational progress in general.
On the other hand, students who study basic sciences in addition to their majors are likely to be more well-rounded. Their versatility provides them with more opportunities when they sesk (seek) suitable jobs.
(这段想说明什么?到底是支持study basic sciences 还是反对啊,前面两段都是反对,怎么这一段感觉像是在支持啊。还有第三段用the other hand, 第四段首用Moreover更一致些)
To conclude, I still(still 显得没有意义,实在要加个修饰词的话用strongly) contend that concentrating on one’s major will bing (bring) about sicnificant (significant) advantages ----the attainment of better command of knowledg (knowledge)(better command of 是什么意思呢,我没有查到,如果更好的掌握知识的话不如用better understanding of ) and the development of one’s interests.
