刚刚考完, 一回到家干紧乘还有点印象写JJ.

Argument:

143The following appeared as a letter to the editor of a national newspaper.

"Your recent article on corporate downsizing* in the United States is misleading. The article gives the mistaken impression that many competent workers who lost jobs as a result of downsizing face serious economic hardship, often for years, before finding other suitable employment. But this impression is contradicted by a recent report on the United States economy, which found that since 1992 far more jobs have been created than have been eliminated. The report also demonstrates that many of those who lost their jobs have found new employment. Two-thirds of the newly created jobs have been in industries that tend to pay above-average wages, and the vast majority of these jobs are full-time."

*Downsizing is the process in which corporations deliberately reduce the number of their employees.

现在人们对pollution 认识还是不够, 两个典型例子是particles and ozone.

Particles 对人的危害, 举例含particles 最高和最低的城市相比, 某疾病的发病率高1/3. 又提到M10 是一种particles pollution. But the scientist do not know how the M10 affect people. One view: the M10 滲入people’s blood through lung. Another view: the M10 携带 other  有害物质, 是这些物质affect people.

Ozone’s benefit was far outweighed by its harm. 好象说ozone 会让人allergic. OZONE 的危害也很难判断. 因为在夏天, ozone increased, but pollen increase too, pollen also cause allergic.

题目
1.       what is the structure of the article?
2.       what is the purpose of the example about 城市particle 含量.?
3.       what will happen if temperature increases (answer: Ozone inceases)

18th century woman workers. General view that woman workers increased during the time, but it is incorrect. Things are not different compared to before, woman still worked before marriage and worked seasonally or sporadically.

题目
1.       what can be inferred from the article? ( husband usually earn more money than wife, since woman worked seasonally)

Fiction 是和poetry 类似的东西, 所一我们应该用同样的分析方式来分析fiction. Fiction is art, but not 真实的记述.

数学

两个部分都不难,计算量不多, 大家应该不会有问题的. 只记得有一题关于prime numbers, 57 不是 prime number, 考试时不要象我一样迷惑了,搞了好几分钟.
