Agree or disagree: Getting advice from the older friends is more valuable than getting advice from friends at your age. (2007.8.11)

In our daily life, we are bond to encounter countless troubles and difficulties which we never met before. Since decision is hard to make and the situation is complex, people often resort to others for advices. I always have inclination to accept advices offered by elder friends, because of their knowledge, experience and their mature personality.

There is no denying that most elder people are more knowledgeable than young one. Living in the world longer gives them more time and chances to obtain knowledge. Compare with elder people, youngster are less educated in almost every field. In studying, their teacher know much more than they do. In works, their boss ,who are often elder people with comprehensive knowledge, are also more experienced than them. Whenever meeting troubles in study or in daily life, I always turn to elder people for help, because more than often, problems and questions will be instant solved.

Another reason for my preference is that the elder possess invaluable experience. From those experience we can avoid inevitable failure and become more insightful. Therefore, university employ mentors to help students' learning because they can point out the mistake and the wrong pattern ultilized by students, and enable them follow the correct method. If students study all by themself, they may go extremes and finally reach an dead end.

Moreover, the elder are mature and rational. Experience tell them to consider things comprehensively and thoroughly. Conclusion draw by my peer friends are always superficial and partial, for example, last month I was thing about buying a computer for study, advices I get from my classmate are unanimously immediate purchasing. However, my uncle, who is also my reliable friend, suggest me to postpone my decision since he has analyzed the IT market and predict the price will fall down. The fact is that price indeed follow the way my uncle predicted and thus saved me a lot of money.

Admittedly, our peer friends's advice is the same valuable, but considering their relatively narrow horizon and uncertain personality it is not always safe and useful.Therefore, I hold the opinion that advices from my elder friend are more valuable.
