133)Some people believe that the Earth is being harmed (damaged) by human activity. Others feel that human activity makes the Earth a better place to live. What is your opinion? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

With the drastic development of the human civilization, we need more and more resources on the earth to construct the buildings, to manufacture life's necessities, to keep our vehicles running, etc. In the meanwhile, a number of miracles and wonderful spectacles are erected by our great efforts, and our lives seem to be appearing much more colorful and comfortable. So it is very normal, in the eyes of many people, the human activity makes the Earth a better place to live. On the contrary, I hold my opposite opinion from beginning to end that our Earth is damaged severely by our activities.
Firstly, with much more exploitation on the Earth, we may easily find out there is a decreasing number of trees around us, the water across our cities has became black and smelt, the sky above a city is always gray rather than previously pure blue, and there are thousands of animals extinct on the Earth everyday. All of them are giving the human beings a warning that our earth is facing a serious problem—it has been so badly polluted, and it is exactly the human activity that has posed a great threat to the future of our Earth that used to be extremely beautiful.
In addition, as our environment has been destroyed so significantly that the human beings are suffering from many unknown and incurable diseases which are lethal to people. According to the statistics released by government that the population who died from the diseases caused by polluted air and water is expanding every year in every countries and regions, mostly in the poor places. If it were not the pollution that the people have made, how would our Earth turn into such a terrible place for us to live in?
Finally, as anyone can see, the natural disaster happened more frequently. The year of 2008 in China is an unusual period. Snow Disaster occurred in South and the 5.12 Earthquake taken place in Sichuan, in some degree, are the revenge our Earth brought us as a warning for the excessive exploitation on it. At one time some celebrity said that as long as we people took away a lot from our earth, the earth would absolutely take away more from people.
We have only one earth, and all our people must be and will forever be living on the earth, as well as our descendent. Therefore, it is time that we did our utmost to protect it now and spare no effort to remedy what badly we have done for human beings’ future.
