ISSUE121 - "At various times in the geological past, many species have become extinct as a result of natural, rather than human, processes. Thus, there is no justification for society to make extraordinary efforts, especially at a great cost in money and jobs, to save endangered species."
Some people think that the environmental problems that many species has become extinct as a result of natural rather than human efforts, in my opinion I own the extinction much to human's effort rather that natural proceeds.
First it is true that natural proceeds, such as great disasters or change of the environment can be the reason why some species become extinct, however according to a recent data in natural precede about one species disappear in hundreds of years, but in nowadays one species disappear in one day. I own the change to our human effort, because our civilization has greatly changed the world and thus causing the environment to change, in this case the environment is no longer for the natural habitats to live any more. For instance the deforestation in Brazil has caused the disappearances of many species. It is true that the disappearance of human species is a natural proceed, but our industrialization has greatly fasten the proceeds thus we should be responsible for the endangered species.
Also accounting their values in the world, we should make great effort to save the endangered species. We are equal in this world; our civilization shouldn't lie on the basis of the massacre of another species, so we should protect other species when it is needed.
In another point, the species are of great values to us. Some of them can be made into medicine, some of them can be made into wethers.If we allow for their disappearness, and they can be a great loss to us.
However we should weigh the advantages and the disadvantages thoughly.Since our resources are limited, and areas such as education, health, technology needs resource, we should weigh whether it is meaningful to save the species. For instance, if the environment the species living in is destroyed and there is no place for the wild species to live, saving this species or not should be reconsidered.
In conclution, it depends whether the society should make extraordinary effort to save the species. In most cases the answer is yes.
