In this argument the speaker concludes that anyone who snores should try to eat less than the average person and to exercise more. This conclusion is based on the evidence that a new study shows people who snore are more likely to gain weight than are people who do not snore. Meanwhile,many People who snore also stop breathing frequently during the night for a while (a condition called sleep apnea)which is the interruption of sleep, leaving the person too tired during the day to exercise.(A careful examination would reveal that how groundless the conclusion is)./The line of reasoning of this arugument is unconvincing in the following aspects.

First of all, the recently collected data that people who snore are more likely to gain weight than are people who do not snore are dubious. This argument does not provide assurance that this study is statistically reliable. Perhaps the survey is based on only a specific hospital or some certain patients of a certain docotor. Any one of a myriad of other factors might lead to the gain of weight except snoring. Lacking such evidence the arguer are too hasty to draw any firm conclusion based on the study about the relationship between snoring and weight gain.


Secondly, even if the snoring and weight gain has a tight relationship, the arguer failed to convincing me that the sleep apnea which is the interruption of sleep is responsible for the weight gain. It is entirely possible that some people who snores do not have sleep apnea, however they still have weight gain which is attributed to other factors such as their eating habits or genetic factors. Perhaps people who snores without sleep apnea might have take some medicines for snoring leading to their weight gain. Without ruling out other possibilities that snoring people who has no sleep apnea can also have weight gain, the reasoning of sleep apnea cause the weight gain is unsound.


Even if the sleep apnea is attributed to the weight gain of snorers,the arguer unfairly assumes that the interruption of sleep due to snore at night will cause person too tired during the day to exercise. The arguer provide no warranted evidence that people who snore at night with sleep apnea will definitely feel tired during the day. Even if they feel tired and do not have a sound sleep at night, it is entirely possible that they will have more sleep than the average person, since they might still feel energetic in the daytime. No matter the snores feel tied or not in daytime, it does not necessarily mean they do not do enough exercise which is considered to be another factor of weigh gain for snores. Without considering other possibilities, the advice for people who snore should do more exercise than average person is unacceptable.


Fourthly, the arguer assumes that eat less can make people who snores to lose wieght. It is entirely possible that people who do not eat much still have snores at night. Perhaps, even people do not eat much they will still gain weight due to other factors. The advice for snorer that they should eat less than average person is unsuitable in some circumstances.


As it stands, this argument has some critical fallacies. To strengthen it, the arguer should provide scientifically reliable evidence that snoring indeed have a strong relationship with weight gain. It also should give specific statistically data that sleep apnea is a key factors for the weight gain of snorers. The advice given should be more scientific considering other factors in certain situations.

我也只是新手,斗胆给点意见
关于那个study作者说 people who snore are more likely to gain weight than are people who do not snore,没说清二者的关系,如果是snore导致的肥胖,那不解决打呼这个根本原因再怎么少吃也没用吧,但即使是体重增加导致打呼,体重的增加也不一定是多吃引起的,可能是自身的疾病或遗传,如果这样少吃也解决不了问题
这是我的想法,大家交流一下,嘿嘿
