One Typical Day at CKGSB
日期:2005-06-29
CKMBA2004 Emily Zhu
The spring is coming nearer and nearer, and I get up earlier and earlier. At 6:30AM, I woked up and stretched out for the morning jogging and yoga. Right at 7:00AM, my classmate Felicia knocked my door and we went downstairs quietly, trying best not to disturbing other sleeping classmates. We started the jogging in the beautiful complex of Meilingguan . 10 minutes jogging followed by 20 minutes yoga was just good enough to inhale fresh air and keep energetic. When standing on the grass lawn facing the sunrise, I can sense the brand new day is coming to me. At 8:00AM, we got on the shuttle bus for Shanghai campus. The morning session was Business Law delivered by the prestigious professor Fang,a prestigious professor in the BL field. He is specialized in the Corporate and Contract Act that highly correlates with business administration in the commercialized world. In the mid of the class, professor assigned each group to discuss two cases of legal dispute on the business contracts. At 12:30AM, professor Fang reluctantly stopped his sessions barely finishing the affluent cases and complicated law clauses, as it’s time for the lunch. Some students surrounded him with bunches of question . Some headed immediately for the canteen to save the time of sleeping at noon. Most of them slept very late last night and need recharge at noon. After the traditional Shanghainese lunch, some returned back to the classroom, navigating, chatting, reading magazines or sleeping. At 2:00PM, we embraced the beloved strategic management course (SM). Professor Tang graduated from Sloan School of Management, MIT, with rich experience and vivid teaching style. He has two famous slogans: ‘there is no magic bullet’and ‘no slogan management’.We started the class by reviewing the contents of last course, and distributing the scores of last case write-ups. Although our group got the highest rating on the report, we talked in private that it’s really because our report was more catering for his expertise. Professor Tang has rather stringent requirement on the in-depth thinking, logic argument and concise writing. Most of the students liked his style because the pressure sometimes turned into drive for immediate improvement. At 6:00PM after dinner, our group gathered again to discuss the coming case write-ups. We started the discussion by flattering (in CK’s term PMP) each member’s strength, because we were quite encouraged by our performance in SM course and determined to make the next one even better. The group discussion was quite efficient since everyone was prepared before the meeting. We finished the discussion within one hour with clear framework and individual assignment. I felt a little tired and went to swimming pool for relaxation. One and half hours later I just in time caught the shuttle bus back to Meilingguan. At 10:00PM I got phone call from my husband, a routine communication everyday. We talked about 15 minutes about his work, my study and our daughter’s life, and contently hung up the line. Soon I turned on the music players and started the next project assignment and reading cases to prepare for tomorrow’s session. Around 11:30 to 12:00 is the time to go to bed. Good night, let’s chat tomorrow. Have a nice dream, to all of you, bye.
