Tradition and modernization, two words, in the author's view, as a pair of antonym, however, are co-existing and compatible as I concerned. So I don't approve that one must make a choice between them.

First and foremost, Tradition and modernization can co-exist in numerous aspects, including architectures, fashion design and the like. The best case to illustrate this view is the Beijing National Center, known as Bird's Nest and the National Aquatics Center, named " Water Cube" have erected in Beijing , an ancient city famous for traditional architectures, such as
the forbidden city and the summer palace, when the 29th Olympic Games is hold. No one is surprised at the style of city design. Alternatively, most people admire that all these great architectures, no matter the kind of style, reflect the spirit of this nation which owes a history of 5000 years and is trying best to be modernization. So does the fashion designers. We might notice that more and more fashion designers employ the traditional elements in their latest fashion shows to inform people what is in vogue now. In such places, the tradition and modernization not only co-exist, but also join organically.

Additionally, it is supplementary roles that tradition and modernization play. Many puzzles, unresolved by traditional methods, become clear in modern researches. And some explanations, a little insufficient in modern ways, can attain other traditional supports. As the discovery of gene, when Mendal, the father of genetics, found the laws of heritage in the process of his study of the traits in pea plants, he didn't realize that the chief factor of control is DNA. Until another two genius, Watson and Crick, gave us the two-helix structure of DNA and Avery approve that it is DNA not protein that control the characters of creatures using modern biological technology, the definition of gene is received by the mass. We cannot ignore the contribution made by Mendal, as without his study, we may still have no interest in genetic field. Also, the remarkable achievement will not be gain if there is no developing biological technology in modern times. Then, I totally disagree with the author's claim about tradition and modernization.

However, we have to admit that there are some occurs when tradition and modernization are not as compatible as the above examples. But we don't need to make an alternation between them as tradition is often served as a base on which modernization can develop well. People incline to see a film adaption, rather than to read the original novel due to the fast speed of life. Unfortunately, they ignore that it is the origin, Pride and Prejudice, that there are numerous notable film versions, include that of 2005 starring Keira Knightley.

In sum, tradition and modernization are compatible in different realms and occurrences. Even, the tradition accelerates the development of modernization for its original ideas. We should utilize such relationship to assist us in future. The behavior of make an alternation sounds unwise.
