30. 北美 2008.1.12 / 2007.7.7governments should focus more on natural environment problems and less on economic developments.


Recently decades some alarming changes in nature environment have attracted human’s attention. Global warming, extinction of many species, environment pollution, and even the increase of human disease and so on arouse many controversial topics in current society. It is no denying that human activities make much contribution to these problems. Therefore, I completely agree that government should focus more on natural environment problems. But this is not mean that less effort should be made on economic developments because without a proper economic development the whole society might go into chaos and actions which would be carried on to protect the natural environment cannot be fulfilled for lack of finance.

Natural environment is the basis for human to survive. Our foods come from plants and animals which grow up in the natural environment. Our every drinking material comes from natural environment including all kinds of beverage or alcohol. Our every breath depends on natural environment because of our physiological requirement of air. And even our mental spirits need natural environment for we are, after all members of nature. However, natural environments have been threatened by human activities. Since the industrial revolution, factories mushroomed quickly and constantly. The wastes are discharged from chimney and pipes. Rivers become colorful and our sunlight becomes obscure. Frog and smog hang over the cities. Rains are enabled to erode
mental more intensively. If our human regardless of these phenomenons, the wild species will be constantly be endangered and even extinct from the earth. Some precious fish species have been extinct with serious interruptions that human put into their natural living environment. Not only animals, but also it will be very hard for our human beings to escape from the disaster if we do not try to protect natural environment. Serious pollution will congest in our survival places. The shortage of food and the threatening of disease caused by the deteriorated environment will put our human to extinction. Therefore, it deserves government spare no effort to protect natural environments.

Indisputably it is an expensive process for human to protect natural environment. Finance will get over the counter, which are spent on protecting endangered species such as cowfish, eagles, planting trees, reducing the domestic use of coal, building Sewage treatment systems, air cleaning system. With out prosperous economic social environment, all those policies which intend to protect natural environment will be in vain. After all, human are creatures that also need to survive. If there even do not have enough finance for us to survive, protecting natural environment will keep as the words because people need to concentrate on their own living. Especially, during the economy recession, governments manage to control the situation in society because unemployment, committing crime, violence, and so on tend to flourish at this time. The effort that government made is primarily to maintain social stability and take actions to overcome the economy recession. So without a proper economic social environment government can hardly concentrate on making effort to protect natural environment.


In conclusion, it is not mutually exclusive for government to protect natural environment and promote economic development at the same time. It seems if government strikes a balance for both aspects, then both environmental protection and economic development can prosperous simultaneity.
