Thanks to the improved standards of living and the availability of transportation, an increasing number of people prefer to travel on their holidays. Recently, there is a heated discussion about whether people will have a better tour with a tour guide. The majority, especially the young people, hold the opinion that traveling without guide can enjoy the freedom. Contrary to their opinion, I argue that traveling with a guide can bring us more benefits.
Traveling without a guide does can give tourists more private time. Tourist can arrange the agenda freely. For example, a person who is interested in history would like to spend time visiting a museum instead of wandering in the shopping centre. But if he is with a tour group led by a guide, he have to follow the guide to go shopping, abandoning his program. And for couple, traveling only with each other can be more romantic.
Wonderful though the advantages of traveling without guide are, they can not complete with those of traveling with a guide. For one thing, traveling with a guide can know more about the custom and history. Undoubtedly, apart from relaxing, another purpose of most people go traveling is to broaden horizon. For instance, when people go to Forbidden City, the tour guide will tell them the background and some knowledge of architecture. What is more, a tour guide can show you the local delicious snakes, which can not be easily found by tourists themselves.
For another, a tour guide always has the access to cheaper accommodation and more convenience transportation. If traveling without tour guide, tourists have to take buses or cabs to look for accommodation themselves, tiredly. And sometimes, such as national day, they have to pay an extra price to book a room.

From what have been discussed above, we can safety draw the conclusion that the positive points of traveling with a tour guide outweigh those of traveling by ourselves, when we take convenient access to knowledge, accommodation and transportation into account.
