Do you agree with the following statement: nowadays people spend too much time on personal enjoyment –things they like to do—rather than the things they should do.9 C$ X+

In our education system, there could hardly find the definite concept that what is people should do and they like to do. Amount of people debate whether we spend more time on personal enjoyment rather than something we should do. I could not agree with this issue, actually, because I do not know what we should do.

Stressing on personal enjoyment is not a novel topic-each time has their specific group of people to do so. Common sense tells us that personal enjoyment could not collect into the category of something people like to do, it may be trend. This is not a gap between western and eastern culture, but a universally understanding. As people all know that Beat Generation in America last century, who could be defined as people do what they like. Some of them, hippies, played absurdly for fun and wasted almost all their youth. They spent more time and energy on their personal enjoyments than us today which could absolutely prove that the behavior does not emerge only nowadays, moreover, it might be a tradition. Thus, people could not conclude that only today people spending much time on personal enjoyments.

Different values generate in special ears which people living in would have different responses although they may look like personal enjoyments. A famous transcript "freedom", William Wallace roared before he died, in film "Braveheart" we should have memory. That time, their belief is to win the war of Scottish freedom. Thus, clearly faith made these people heroes. However, peace and development are two main issue of this world which has fewer battlefields, less poverty than before. Targets of our life are various, but there is no consensus or definite answer. Democracy world and free atmosphere lead us to have individual opinions, creative ideas and protective rights. Multiple cultures cross our mind so that we could not evaluate superficial behavior to be wrong. Spending much time on personal enjoyment is totally their life style. To have a good life should have been a permanent goal, how could we gainsay that is not people should do. Therefore, it is difficult to evaluate which behavior is should or not because of individual values and outlooks on world.

Whatever time or reason, people spending much time on their personal enjoyment would not be reliable. We could not conclude “should”s or “like”s which spends more, all in all we are in the same time.
