As a human being, anyone of us live in a society, breathing the air goingthough from other’s noses. Of course, the socialization is significant to usall. On the other hand, is it the truth that how children are socialized today determinesthe fate of our society? The answer depends on the definition of “a bettersociety”.

First of all, the word of “socialize” means to fit or train for a socialenvironment. In the author’s assertion, society’s density is determined by thedegree of children’s socialization; moreover, this factor influences evendetermines whether there will be a better society. Given there are all kinds ofelements contributing to “a better society”, including the quality and quantityof labor force, the kept of traditional culture, the happy feeling of members…etc;socialization of next generation is one of the influencing factors so that itjust can not play the part to determination.

Furthermore, there are two respects of socialization that both cannotsupport this assertion. In the first respect, for individuals, though theprocess of leaning one’s culture and how to live in it actually helpfully excitesthough one’s childhood, the socialized level of individuals is not the mostimportant one for surviving in a society. The wild knowledge, the professionalskills, the humanity contenting kindness, persistence and hard-working… all ofthem word together to build a person’s life in certain society. One’s weaknesscan be enhanced by his or her merits. In this case, the socialized level diversethen cause the density of a society is dynamic. For instance, there should bothbe the group of lonely talents such as Kafka and the group of popular elitessuch as Bill Clinton and world would work in a steady condition. Forindividuals, “a better society” not only means better meals, clothes andshelters; but also should bring the value of great tolerance of different sounds,greater respect for individual rights and greater space for one to develop,even in a minority’s way.

On the other hand, for groups, if every member just trained to fit and obeythe environment, then the group would not get further development. In thischanging age, what is much more needed is something about breaking the old andcreating the new though the traditional customs and culture is worthy to bekept. As a member of society, we eager to be admitted by masses, so we obey therules and do what the majority praise; however, the sound from inner heart alsocalls for something differs from majority and tradition. And usually, suchbehaviors cause some changing, or even some important development. Just lookingback to the famous instance of Copernicus, the Polish astronomer who advancedthe theory that the earth and other planets revolve around the sun. His theory disruptedthe Ptolemaic system of astronomy which is thought to be classical and wellaccepted by almost everyone at his times. The revolutions call for the courageto be different and unsocial. Sometimes, socialization is not the all. A bettersociety is steadily changing with development, with the tolerance to “unfitness”and “disobeying”.

To build a better society, there will be plenty of problems to be faced,such as problems of poverty and work, problems of racial and ethnic, problemsof inequality and problems of diversity. Good socialization is neither the onlyanswer nor the best one, though it is really contributes to it. Yet educationis of course worthy to be concerned, about how to raise socialized children aswell as how to raise children with the tolerance and kindness to diversity,even raise them to say no to some views from majority.
