Do you agree or disagree: governments should spend more money in support of arts than in support of athletics such as state-sponsored Olympic teams.

Whether the governments should spend more money in support of arts than in support of athletics is under debate nowadays. Although I appreciate that support of athletics is of importance to the nation, however, on the other hand, I believe that the support for art are more important.

To begin with, on one hand, after all, the athletics such as state-sponsored Olympic teams are symbols of a nation’s overall statues, especially in the respects of the health conditions of people and indications about economic development. People are growing concerned about the sports meeting, especially the top events like Olympic Games and World cup, held today. It is obvious to see that these events are good opportunities for nations to demonstrate their development, which can reflect the promoting in economic and scientific development , in sports. Given these facts that, the importance of supporting athletics can be revealed.

Turning to the importance of supporting art, on the other hand, we can find that the spirit wealth of people in of equally, if not more, importance compared with athletics. Art, regarded as the legacy passed down from one generation to another, contains a myriad of meanings and ideas from our ancestors. With the dramatically social development today, art is playing an important role in two aspects involving the people’s culture identity and the nation’s task. People are receiving an increasing number of information today passively or initiatively , however, as far as I am concerned, these information, despite our lives are enriched, can make us lose our initiative attitude and direction towards life, especially towards the culture identity born with us. Consider, for example, that the children today are absorbing many knowledge from foreign countries, which might be advances in its own respects, but we should preserve our own art for the sake of preserving our own culture identity which can differ one group of people from another and money is of central to support the action of preserving the arts. Many museums should be constructed to introduce the art, explained by the paintings, clothes and literature, to the children so as to gain the confidence in our own culture and help us seek the culture, which is definitely necessary, in the deep of our own heart.

Furthermore, we can recognize the mission and task from a close inspection and deep thought on art. One nation can concede its own task by observing its own art related to politics field, or the culture and life field, for the hopes and wishes can be transferred via the form of art. The symbol of a nation, for instance, related to sunshine or a tiger might means that the task of nation is to become stronger in power. In a not dissimilar way, the paintings which have the a big harvest and happiness about the good weather may show that the nation should pay his efforts to develop its agriculture for the harvest can improve the living standard of the residents. From what has been discussed above, no one can deny the fact that the art has played an important role in the development of a nation.

In the final conclusion, after taking all the factors in to consideration. The great use and significant of art might be reveals. And the mere mention of the importance of sports is scant evidence that the government should support athletics than art. In order to make better progress in the social development, government should spend more money to support of art.
