第十二次作业：Many teachers assign homework to students every day. Do you think that daily homework is necessary for students? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.（07.1.13）

For students the only good homework is no homework.However,the practice of newly acquired knowledge and the preparation for new lessons are always essential parts of the learning process.From my personal angle alone,homework is necessary for every students,but putting a “daily”into this statement will go to the extreme and have negative effect on students.Also,the need for homework differs from subject to subject.

To begin with,daily homework could give one student a chance to discover his/her defect during the period of learning.Everyone has innately inertia especially the youth who be attrated by more other vivid things.Imaging yourself as a student in senior high school.After you’v had classes for a whole day long,you might not would like to pick up your textbooks again to review.Then,suitable homework can help you recall the things you have learnt in the daytime.This process of doing homework for students to some extent can substitute the effect of reviewing books only.However,learning is always a vonluntary activity after all,and teachers have to consider the possibility that too much homework will frustrate the students.As a result,students might become less interested in the subject or less willing to learn.Consequently,the good intentions of the teacher could very well have the opposite effect and a student will learn less.


Otherwise,the amount of homework depend on various field of knowledge.For instance,in the areas of languages and mathematics continuous engagement with the subject matter is necessary,because it allows a student to internalize important concepts and mechanisms.In the field of history,on the other hand,it is more important that students grasp greater concepts.Memorizing dates and palces is important,surely,but,if forgotten,these can always be looked up in the textbook.In these subjects mountains of homework is not only unnecessary but it might discourage students from taking an interest in the topic.

From what I am talking about above,I draw a conclusion that homework for students have merit itself and teachers should make good use of homework to encourage students’ interstest in subjects and let them discover something more from their textbooks.Also,teachers had better pay more attention to the methodology of teaching of different subjects.
