Many teachers assign homework to students every day. Do you think that daily homework is necessary for students? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

I generally agree with the assertion that daily homework is necessary for students. However in my opinion, exceeded homework, if unfortunately assigned with a daily routine, would only undermine the learning process of the students.

To begin with, a day-to-day based homework routine is necessary for learning for that it provides the students with opportunities to review what has been learned already. In fact, many researches on how humans learn new things reveal that, only when one constantly reviews his/her newly learned knowledge could he/she indeed grasp the essence of these knowledge and be able to make use of them in the future. So in this sense, a daily homework is an effective tool for the revisions of the knowledge, and thus is helpful for the students.

Besides, daily homework offers students the chance to learn by themselves. Let us suppose the scenario that no daily homework is assigned, it is quite possible that many students would simply use their free time to play. By this I don’t mean that play is harmful for the students, but I do suggest that a daily homework could function to form the students’ learning habit to spend at least some time everyday studying by themselves. Such an habit, once formed, could benefit the students all their lives.

However I still want to point out that, overly assigned homework might undermine the learning process of the students for first of all, it occupies too much of the students spare time that the students become unable to develop their individual interest; also, if the homework is assigned without a limit amount, it would even serve to undermine the students interest in learning, such scenario is so unfortunate because after all, learning process should be fun and full of happiness as to best develop a student potential.

To conclude, a daily homework is indeed necessary for the students for it provides them with not only the opportunity to review what has been learned, but also the chances to learn by themselves and to develop a good learning habit. Sill over-assigned daily homework has to be avoided as to create a better learning process for the students.
