With the rapid pace of technology development, people have more means to acknowledge more things such as surfing the internet or watching TV. However, there is no consensus whether people could gain more knowledge from television than the traditional method of learning: reading books. From my perspective, it is not reasonable to conclude that people can learn more from watching TV instead of book.

First of all, I must concede as a matter of fact, television brings us some benefits. People could get information from TV programs which contain not only news happening around the world but the knowledge relating to ones we could learn from school. Nevertheless, when staying in front of television for a long time, we can gain some radiation and myopia from watching television. What’s more, television also has some more adverse aspects such as some porno or violent programs which would have no advantage to children but tremendous bad influence on youth.

Therefore, reading book, which are not subject to watching TV，has advantages that it has its own systematic way to show knowledge. Take accounting for example, only by reading book could we know how to fulfill the chart, how to calculate the asset and liability of a company and so forth, which TV hardly has these information. Additionally, it is so clear that books are convenient to us to carry with wherever we go. As our students, why not to read books such as Times in campus for students only find television in special place such as dormitory or student center.

Moreover, world around us presents that people have to gain more knowledge from book, especially for student ranging from children in primary school to graduate in university. For instance, students should go to library with the purpose of searching information about their assignment or essay such as cetacean including contents of teacher’s lecture about how cetacean live, their understanding of lecture and the knowledge they find from books such as where cetacean live and so forth. Due to special characteristics of things students have to learn and study, television cannot provide enough and appropriate materials. Even for adults, take accountant for example, they must learn new regulation of accounting from book not from television. Accordingly, we could get more knowledge from books not television.

Consequently, compared with television, book has benefits not substituted by other means of learning and reading book would be more convenient and necessary for people to learn countless knowledge.
