For hunting a good job and lead a comfortable life, many students continue their education to go to university after graduate from high school. When it comes to the issue that whether college students should take the history courses no matter what field they major in, everyone has different opinion based on their experience and background. Well, from my perspective, college students should take history courses in their curriculum.

From the very beginning, history courses will benefit your professional study. Some students may think that spending time on history study is a kind of wasting time, especially to the students who are majoring in technology. But as an engineering student, I think we can learn more in history class rather than only historical knowledge, which could boost our study of science. For one thing, the historic heroes, who were always conquer a large scale of difficulties in their way to success, will a great courage to us when we are in dilemma. Every historic character we can learn in history class has his special personal characteristic. Most of them have a though spirit to overcome the handicap in their life. So, history course could be our strong force of encouragement. For another thing, some failure in history could be our lesson to be away from wrong way of chasing success. Take the perpetual motion machine as an example. Lots of scientists were devoting their whole life to invent this machine; however, it can not be realized in fact. When we learn this in history course, we will certainly be away from this way of mechanical research. Therefore, spending a little time on history course will save us much more time and give us courage to come over the difficulties in major researches.

In addition, history study is more like a story course, which could relax our mind from the nervous major study. We all know that the human being's brain could be in a state of dormancy after learning one subject for a long time. It need relax; otherwise, it could not remember or repeat anything at all. At this time, if we spend some time on other courses, such as history courses, our brains could have a good rest and gain higher efficiency in the next period of study. Therefore, university could arrange some history courses in students’ daily schedule.

Admittedly, if the faculty does not arrange curriculum well, history courses could become time-wasting and boring. In fact, the historical knowledge is boring in itself because it is the information that happened hundreds of years ago. But these historic stories could be vivid, if our teachers try their best to prepare the class. Moreover, the frequency of history courses should not be unique for students of different majors. Students majoring in art could have more time to study history courses, while engineering students can have this course just in elective.

In conclusion, if the university arranges the courses appropriately, students of every major could benefit from the study of history courses, which could encourage them with specific historic story, relax their mind and teach them lessons of failure.
