Dr Zonghan Xie of Edith Cowan University (ECU) is looking for excellent PhD candidates to join his research group in Perth, Western Australia. Dr Xie has the following words for potential applicants:

• Masters degree (or near completion) in Materials Science, Mechanical or Civil engineering, Physics, Biology, Dentistry, Bio-engineering,
• IELTS or TOEFL (or available as early as possible),

PhD scholarships offered by ECU and the Australian Government are:

1) ECU International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (ECU-IPRS): Closing Date: 31 August for semester 1, 2010.

2) 2010 Endeavour Postgraduate Awards: Applications for 2010 close 31 July 2009
The Endeavour Postgraduate Awards provide financial support for international students for up to 3 years to undertake a postgraduate qualification at a Masters or PhD level either by coursework or research in any field of study in Australia.

Dr Xie also likes to take Master students who have secured or are going to apply for the China Scholarship Council (CSC) scholarships. For the CSC funded students, ECU would waive the tuition for PhD study.
