Adolescence during which we spend most of our time inhigh school is a significant period for acquiring basic abilities andknowledge. What kind of course arrangement in high school is suitable andbeneficial for youth development? Compared to taking all their time intocompulsory courses, I prefer setting up various kinds of optional courses forstudents to choose on their own minds.

Firstly, the study driven by interest is mosteffective.
Students will learn fasterand better in interest-oriented class than in other compulsory but drearycourses. They will try their best to listen, read and study, much the way thechildren immerse themselves in playing games. Additionally, what they havelearned during that process is really impressive since they put all theirhearts on that. They learn for themselves indeed, neither for score nor otherpeople.

Secondly, experiences in opitional class will help youngpeople know themselves better about what they really like. Followed byuniversity or collage, high school provide a perfect enviroment for youth toknow about what they are interested in and what they should choose for furtherstudy. I have taken a computer programming class in high school. Within justfew classes I found programming is absorbing and I am really good at it. Thanksto the optional course, I could choose computer science as my major forundergraduate study confidently since I know that is my interest. But someother students who had been narrowly contained within obligatory courses arenot so lucky.

Thirdly, opitional class would give positive effects onstudents' attitudes toward study. If students are always confined in thecourses they do not like, they will soon have aversion about learning. Thatpassive feeling may even spread to other subject which might be interestingoriginally. However, in elective courses, students learn about the knowledgethey want. Study will be not boring anymore but intriguing. In this wayadolescent will surly become more positive about studying either in current lifeor later.
