Many of the world's lesser-known languages are being lost as fewer and fewer people speak them. The governments of countries in which these languages are spoken should act to prevent such languages from becoming extinct.

However, we cannot deny the fact that the stubborn existence and  even the unrestrained enlargement of those lesser-knowm languages can inevitably hamper the social advance as well. As a result, how to treat this phenomenon  resonably should be a major concern to the public. As for me, I agree that  those governments of the countries should make proper measures to protect those languages'  from extinct, but the governments should not make speaking lesser-known languages popular or let it out of control .

Language is used as a means to communicate the ideas and feelings with each other, palying  a fairly significant role in the social advance and the human development. At some point,  lanuages can  be  classified into two types : the langages used for the majority and that used for the minority— the lesser-konwn languages. Even though the latter are relatively narrower than the former, the lesser-known languages still have the same function as the totel concept--language. Meanwhile, they seems to be more and more scarce since a decreasing number of people are speaking them as the time goes by.  With the progress of times, especially from the Age of Steam, the Electric Times to the Age of the Internet and the Digital Age,  contingeninces such as technological progress, communication development, cultural exchange and globalization all lead to that decrease. Firstly, due to tech and science development and communication advance, （the indigenous self-sufficiency and close policy in the past have been changed with 。。）in place of the old local and national seclusion and self-sufficiency, we have intercourse in every direction, universal inter-dependence of nations. Secondly, with the realization of free trade and the establishment of the world market  as well as the assimilation of  the industrial production and its corresponding living conditions, , ethnic segregation and confrontation amoung different peoples have been disappering, and this is what we call  globalization.

Thus, we can easily figure out that if the lesser-known languages' extinction take place, human beings all over the world would have to be faced with some problems. Take the culture for example, the cultural heritage was always recorded or carreied by the old language, which was the lesser-known languages  for in the ancient time peoples from different countries did not have ccommom language. Ancient Maya language--Proto Mayan, thought to have been spoken at 5,000 years ago, had been extinct ,which makes it difficult for archeaologists  to discover the Maya Civilization heritage recorded in Proto Mayan. Similarly, in mordern society, if a lesser-known
language is dying out, for the contemporary people, they lose the chance to understand that a specific cutural; for the descendents, they would have to face another mistery. Thus, the governments are responsibe to protect the lesser-known languages from extinction to avoid a civilization's disappering from the world.

However, obviously, there are some disadvantages of such languages. After all, they are used by the minority of people, which make such languages bound to restrict  commnicaton between different  peoples and  impede  the progress of the global society. Such as in daily life, in the business negotiation, in the international conference, it's better to use common language or official language to make things go well and even to achieve the goal. Consequently, in these cases, the governments shuold take steps to control the using of the lesser-known languages in a proper range.

In sum, language ,as one of the most effective motives to the society advance and human development, its merits are indelible. However, we cannot overlook the weeknesses of the lesser-known languages, which always inlcine to restrain people's thought and action. Consequently, the governments of the lesser-known languages should seek a banlance between protecing and limiting such language instead of go to either extremes without sufficient consideration.

language is dying out, for the contemporary people, they lose the chance to understand that（delete） a specific cultural; for the descendents, they would have to face another mistery. Thus, the governments are responsibe to protect the lesser-known languages from extinction to avoid a civilization's disappering from the world.（感觉得出来政府要负责这个结论还缺少论证.）

However, obviously, there are some disadvantages of such languages. After all, they are used by the minority of people, which make such languages bound to restrict  commnicaton between different  peoples and  impede  the progress of the global society. Such as in daily life, in the business negotiation, in the international conference, it's better to use common language or official language to make things go well and even(delete) to achieve the goal. Consequently, in these cases, the governments should take steps to control the using of the lesser-known languages in a proper range（总结句前再加一句吧，是前面的论述与总结句更密切一些）.

In sum, language ,as one of the most effective motives to the society advance and human development, its merits are indelible. However, we cannot overlook the weeknesses of the lesser-known languages, which always inlcine to restrain people's thought and action. Consequently, the governments of the lesser-known languages should seek a banlance between protecing and limiting such language instead of go to either extremes without sufficient consideration.
