0910AW SPECTACULAR 同主题写作第六期】

ISSUE157 - "There is no such thing as purelyobjective observation. All observation is subjective; it is always guided bythe observer's expectations or desires."

则guided by the expectations and desires
-
而在一些领域,是technology帮助人们“观察”事物,如科学研究,由technology本身的观察并不是由人趋势的。只有人要使用那些信息时,才会加入主观的东西。
4. 结论。

The statement claims that observation is not absolute objective, and is guided by the subjective expectation or desires.
I concede the first claim; however, whether I agree with the latter one depends on the definition of observation in different fields.

The statement is accurate insofar as pure objective observation does not exist. To understand this, let’s see the definition of“objective” first: objective is independent of human minds and judge.
However, human participation is involved in observation. People must be judging observation and influencing it. Thus the observation would be inevitably subjective; in other words, pure objective observation cannot exist. For instance, in our daily life, different people have different views towards the same thing.

Admittedly, there is no pure objective observation, but it is too extreme to say all observation is subjective and driven by people’s desire. I think whether it is driven by the desire depends on different occasion.
On one hand, in the fields where people need to make judgment and interpret things, observation would be surely subjective and has its inclination. In the field of social study, such as mass media, politics,or law courts, people has clear purposes to observe which help them to make judgment. For example, if a social science researcher wants to study a topic“what is the elites’ opinion towards the new president Obama?”, they may need in-person interview or essay question survey. The observation process of interviewing and survey is guided by the researchers’ expectation and desire since they have some anticipation of the answer of that topic.
On the other hand, in the fields such as science research, the observation is conducted usually by technology or some machines.Specifically, the observation by some technology could provide objective information, say, the knowledge and truth, which is not directed by human’s wish. This kind of observation would involve subjectivity only when people want to use the information from the observation to interpret the research. Therefore,we shall never say all observation is subjective. To give an example, if we use computer software to calculate the user access of a website, the computer will definitely give the accurate number of it. This process of calculation will not influenced by human desire until the second step of people’s utilization of this result to construct a research.

In a word, the observation is not purely objectivesince its actor is people. But there are technologies or machines that givepeople the true part of observation, and help people to gain knowledge of thisworld. It is only the process of human’s interpretation of the observation thatmay deal with subjective things. However, people never stop pursuing the truthand make observation more and more objective.

The statement claims that observation is not absolute objective, and is guided by the subjective expectation or desires.  I concede the first claim (the former/first half part)(claim只有安次分,不按个数,除非是几个人做的); however, whether I agree with the latter one depends on the definition of observation in different fields.(I find the latter doubtable considering the fact that observation tend to take different forms in different fields. ) (后文未提及definition,只说field)
The statement is accurate insofar as pure objective observation does not exist. To understand this, let’s see the definition of “objective” first: objective is independent of human minds and judge(judgment).  However, human participation is involved in observation. People must be judging (the way of) observation and influencing it(用进行时干嘛). Thus the observation would be inevitably subjective; in other words, pure objective observation cannot(does not) exist. For instance, in our daily life, different people have(hold) different views towards the same thing.

Admittedly, there is no pure objective observation, but it is too extreme/go to far to say all observation is subjective and driven by people’s desire(influenced by people’s preference). I think whether it is driven by the desire(human’s predilection plays a part in observation) depends on different occasion.
On one hand, in the fields where people need to make judgment and interpret things, observation would be surely subjective and has its inclination. In the field of social study(issues), such as mass media, politics, or law courts, people has clear purposes to(of) observing which help(urge) them to make judgment. For example, if a social science researcher wants to study a topic “what is the elites’ opinion towards the new president Obama?”, they may need in-person interview or essay question survey. The observation process of interviewing and survey is guided by the researchers’ expectation and desire since they have some anticipation of the answer of that topic.
On the other hand, in the fields such as science research, the observation is conducted usually by technology or some machines(by experimental instruments with scientific methods). Specifically, the observation by some technology could provide objective information, say, the knowledge and truth, which is not directed by human’s wish(at human’s will). This kind of observation would involve subjectivity only when people want to use the information from the observation to interpret the research. Therefore, we shall never say all observation is subjective. To give an example, if we use computer software to calculate the user access of(to) a website, the computer will definitely give the accurate number of it. This process of calculation will not be influenced by human desire until the second step of people’s utilization(application) of this result to construct(do) a research.

In a word, the observation is not purely objective since its actor is people(it is the human who actually perform and will later make use of it). But there are technologies or machines that give people the true part of observation, and help people to gain knowledge of this world. It is only the process of human’s interpretation of the observation that may deal with subjective things. However, people never stop pursuing the truth and(so as to目的关系吧) make observation more and more objective.
