Observation is the process, in which people can acquaint themself with a stranger, an exotic culture or a universal truth. Each person has been observating the world around him since the day he borned. Some one would say that there is no such thing as purely objective obsevertion, I'm absolutely agree with this viewpoint. In my opinion, the observation is often guided by the observer's expactations or desires in some extent. Yet, it is can not to say that all observation is subjective.
Observation is an act, an act control by human's mind, no matter whether they want or not, it means observation can not be a purely objestive action. This action must use eyes to look, use ears to listen, use nose to smell and use brain to collect all of these information. And then, through the logical or emotional thinking, the people, who is the observer, would gain a conclusion about all information. This process is observation. Due to people have different world view and value system, it is probably that they obtain different results by observing the same thing. As all we known, the famous adage: "There are thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes." is talking about the same truth. For instance, when people observe the sun rising, they will get different impressioms. A poet may think it is so beautiful or so spectacularity; a scientist will consider about the strength of the sunlight; maybe the reflection of a farmer or a worker is "oh, I'm late."; while, a baby must have no idea about sunrise. All of this differences can easily explain the observation is affect by human's mind(subjective sence). Therefore, the purely objective observation is impossible.
Indeed, there is no purely objective observation. However, it can not to say all the observation is subjective.
Through observing, human beings gain much knowledge about the world and the society. Those knowledge and all the things which
are observed is objective. For example, in chemistry, the chemist always observes the phenomena of chemical reaction. Because this reaction truly occurs, the object of observation is impersonal. It means that what the chemist looks, listens and smells are all objective. This observation can not be a subjective one. Of course, it also connot be an objective one, the reason is that the chemist must use his own thought to explain the phenomena in process of concluding and deducing of observation. While, as we known, nobody can claim his saying is the truth. So, my viewpoint is the observation is no matter subjective or objective.
Finally, people always try to make their observation more objective. However, in fact, they always affect by their own expactations and willings. Human beings have a mantality that they want everything goes to better. Hance, they anticipate the result of observation following their desire. Nevertheless, this mind is deeply destroy the objectivity of observation. Even in the science experiment which is famous for its preciseness, it is odinary. Some tests need tester use his eyes to estimate the value, while, the tester will obtain a uncorrect result just because this result is much more tally with his requirement.It is easily to know this result is absolutely not objective. All the scientists must have a principle that trying our best to make all the test result more truthfulness.
In conclusion, the observation should composed by two parts: the impersonal object and subjective thought about the object. So, there is no such observation as purely objective or subjective thing. And human being are easily to be affected by their own emotion and willings in the process of observation, however, in some area, especially in science, we should do our possible to let the observation objective.
