"Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

在高等教育中,学生的兴趣对学习很重要。 对于这种职业教育,兴趣很重要。兴趣是最好的老师。

但是在基础教育中,兴趣教育会导致不全面的教育。学生只关注或者学习自己感兴趣的知识。

兴趣教育给评价教育质量带来了障碍。每个学生的兴趣不同,很难制定统一的标准来衡量学生的教育成果。解决这个问题的折中方法就是当前实行的在高中学习基础知识,在大学里获得职业教育。另外,要家长们重视家庭教育,满足孩子的兴趣和需要。
Education should cater to individual needs and interests in order to adapt to tense competition of professional careers. However, unduly emphasizing on personalized education is counterproductive. In different stages of education, we should take different ways to be effective education.
I concede the statement that insofar as higher education or vocational education, our colleges and universities should emphasis on personalized and interest education in order to provide their students’ superiorities in keen competition of our society. Interest is a best teacher of oneself. Every individual has a specific talents and interests in different fields, which enable him or her to take great efforts to achieve success of his or her interesting fields. In this event, education has obligations to encourage students to dig out their potentials and design special course or research to meet individual needs. If a student who is obsessed with computer science, our education should help him or her to develop these talents and interests in specialized level. The means on which education take effects can make students own their competitiveness over peers with public education in current society. It is obvious that students with unique skills and specialized abilities are distinguished in modern vocational competition. With respect to professional career, I hold a positive attitude towards personalized education which caters to individuals’ needs and interests.
Nevertheless, this personalized education is not adapted to elementary education and secondary education. Specialization education might not strike a balance of well-round knowledge, undermining the basic education. In the primary school or middle school, students should learn about a large range of knowledge to lay foundation for professional education. If a student fascinated with literature is given support to plunge into verbal and language in basic education, although his or her interest satisfied, it is detrimental for students’ integrated development resulting from in absence of logical and analytical exercises. In the fundamental education, course and other trains should be provided with all-round knowledge such as mathematics, art, history, physic, chemistry, and the like. These can enable students to acquire a general knowledge and common sense, what’s more, explore their potentials and develop their interests.
On the other hand, personalized education set up many obstacles in evaluating qualities of education. There is no uniform criteria to gauge capacities of individuals who mere was inspirited by his or her own interests. Then, it is a thorny problem for educational institution to make perforce evaluation in higher education. The dilemma that a student has high numeracy and analytical ability, and got a metal of Olympic mathematics whereas he or she is poor in literature might be confronted in nation perforce evaluation. The academic committee has difficulties with deciding whether this student should be admitted in a famous university. In current and recent education, the eclectic and effect measures to combine general education with specialized education were taken on many nations’ educational system, in which student learn about a general knowledge in high school, then, choose a major in higher education as a university or a college. In addition, it is quite important for family education to cultivate individuals’ interests in primary education. Parents, in a general, best know about their own children’s needs and interests, and take more effective approach to explore potential of children.
All in all, personalized and specialized education is effective, in higher education, that it is designed to meet individuals’ need and interests. It provides students with superiorities in competition of job markets. Nevertheless, specialized education, in primary education, brings about several problems, such as lacking general knowledge, not effective evaluation of talents of students. We should advocate that parents pay enough attentions to children in family education and make use of advantages of home education to develop individual’s interests and needs. |
