147. " Tradition and modernization are incompatible. One must choose between them."

In the modern society, the science and technology develop faster and faster, and many traditions are abjured. Some people consider that tradition and modernization are incompatible. However, are the modernization and tradition so contrary that we must make a choice? I don't think so. In my opinion, although modern science and technique can make our life convenient, we shouldn't forget tradition. There is no choice that we must choose.

Honestly, I must acknowledge there are many differences between modern life and traditional concept. In the past two hundred years, because of the explosive development of science and technology, the whole human society is changed absolutely. Those techniques make our life convenient, and make our life faster than ever meantime. Due to we have so fast life today, some traditions have to be abandoned. Let's choose the communication as the example. In the nineteenth century, the invention of telegragh changed the condition that people only could use the letter to communicate with their friends far away. And the telephone came out, from then we could use sound instead of word to contact. Nowadays, the instant messaging tools and technology in internet have been the most convenient method of communication. Although letter doesn't disappear, it is not so important in our daily life. But letter is a tradition. Maybe someone would say letter is more pure-hearted than telephone. If you must contact someone, which will you choose between telephone and letter? I think 99% people will choose telephone. So, it truly exists conflicts between modernization and tradition.

While, dose existing conflicts mean modernization and tradition cannot coexist? In fact, some traditions are popular in the modern society. For example, when the day is a festival, the whole family will be reunion. When a new year comes, we always send our best wishes to our family members and friends. Even the time we have meal, we will pray to thank god give us the beautiful life. All of these are the tradition, and they happen in our everyday life. These traditions are not so conflict modernization, or, modernization dose not exclude these traditions. We can use the modern method to celebrate festival, and festival is a tradition itself. In this condition, tradition and modernization are combined together.

Besides, a lot of old thoughts are still suit for our modern life. It is proved that the IQ of ancestor is not lower than modern people. The predecessor's experience can guide us, and keep us from going to wrong way. Of course, some of them cannot catch the step of modern society; all of these out of time thoughts should be abandoned. If we think about our ways of thinking, a part of them are influenced deeply by traditional thought. For example, in our mind, honesty, goodness, braveness and so on is the nice characters for everybody. And we always ask ourselves to try our best to achieve them. There is a standard that what honesty, goodness or braveness is. This standard is also the tradition. From long, long ago, the standard exists in people's mind, and through thousands years, it still affects our modern people, our modern society. As for me, this tradition should not be abandoned, and can not be abandoned.

To sum up, although there are some conflicts between tradition and modernization, they can coexist. While, when we come in for the traditions, we must abandon the bad or unsuitable thing. And the well traditions are complete succeeded by us and our descendants.

To sum up, although there are some conflicts between tradition and modernization, they can coexist. While, when we come in for (没见过这个词组额) the traditions, we must abandon the bad or unsuitable thing. And the well traditions are complete succeeded (是inherited/preserved吧) by us and our descendants.
