13"Many of the world's lesser-known languages are being lost as fewer and fewer people speak them. The governments of countries in which these languages are spoken should act to prevent such languages from becoming extinct."

The speaker claims that the government of countries where certain languages are fewer and fewer spoken should interfere to prevent these languages from becoming extinct. I agree insofar as the culture and history descended by indigenous and particular languages of a nation should not be forgotten and discarded thoroughly. At some point, however, I think national culture and history preservation should yield to the more practical consideration of the rapidly globalizing world.

It is known to all that language is the communication of thoughts and feelings through a system of arbitrary signals, such as voice sounds, gestures or written symbols. I have to admit a fact that languages perform an essential role for history inheriting from generation to generation. When I was a child, my grandmother’s mother as a raconteur who excelled in telling anecdotes in local language of Hangzhou told me many stories to teach me native customs of variety aspects in quotidian life and how to be a person with good characters. In my observation, this is a typical manner for illiterate elders who could not read and write to educate their offspring. Consequently, especially for the groups without written languages, unfortunately, the disappearance of oral language seems to be a catastrophe in the history and culture, even resulting in the extinction to the entire group.

And yet, it would be valueless to common people when indigenous language could not be spoken by few member of group. As it stands, many people seem to overlook the basic fact: the major function of language is communication with each other. Additionally, living in the society overwhelmingly developed with the globalizing procedure, people have to learn all-purpose language like English to connect others in many respects, such as business, politics or education. For instance, XXXXX. Thus, it is inescapable that some indigenous languages are inevitably vanishing even if with the effort of salvage or prevent.

Moreover, thanks to the rapidly developing high-tech product of cell phones, satellites and especially internet, the worldwide communication becomes conveniently and thrivingly. For internet, English is adopted as the default language that might be likely to make less misunderstanding than communicating with a translator during an international business negotiation or a chat on MSN. In my view, for saving a dying language, the quota of the government’s resources should be dominated on training more specialists to research rather than increasing the amount of ordinary people to prevent it from extinction through using it.

In sum, preserving indigenous languages, without doubt, is a necessary work. Preserving indigenous languages that conveyed by only a few of certain people, would enhance our understanding of their distinct history, native culture or unique custom. Nevertheless, these dying language become obstacles to people’s communication during the international activities of economy, politics and education in such a globalizing society. As a result, the above-discussed reasons should to a large extent justify my claim that more experts for studying of these lesser-known languages the government should foster that outweigh more benefits than concentrating on spending time and money for preventing them from extinction.

Issue这个家伙对我来说完全就是全新的,我在写这道题的时候也是感觉自己才入门。实在无法提出更好的建议,修改中我的观点不一定正确,可以讨论一下。
