I basically agree with the contention that students should take a variety of disciplines outside their major field of study to become truly educated.  However, students must be careful to strike a proper balance in their educational pursuits, overstate either the importance of the professional knowledge or the information outside will lead into jeopardize situation.

In my points of view, truly education not only means gaining the knowledge and ability to excel in one's major course of study, but also facilitates a truly understanding of one's interest and potential. University plays an important part in one's life. The kind of education students received in the university determines what kind of person they will be in a certain degree. Nevertheless, not every person knows which professional fields they are interested in and can do well in at the beginning of their college life. Thus, if university provides the opportunity for students to choose a variety of courses outside their major field, it would be easy for them to find out their real interest and potential lie.

Becoming truly educated also requires sufficient mastery of one academic area to permit a student to contribute meaningfully to society in life. As we all know, various disciplines are related, thus mastery of any specific filed requires some knowledge from other disciplines. For example, without mastering the knowledge philosophy for thinking about problem, a political-science student cannot fully understand the political events in the history.  And computer science is closed tied to mathematics, as mathematics provides the basic factor in its research.

Nevertheless, unduly emphasize the importance of studying the course outsider may falls into another extreme and eventually make the students neglect the knowledge of their major fields, and thereby have no capability to engage any realm of employment or research work.  Thus students should learn to not overextend themselves in the pursuit of true education.

In the final analysis, to become truly educated one must find a balance between its professional filed and outside disciplines.  Certainly, students should strive to excel in the specific course they major. Yet they should also complement those efforts by pursuing course work in a variety of other areas as well. By earnestly pursuing a wide scope of knowledge one not only finds out his or her interest and potential, but also gains the capacity to succeed in major field and future career. And these capacities are what “truly educated" means.

(
感觉有些重复 one’s major就可以了), but also facilitates a truly understanding of one's interest and potential. University plays an important part in one's life. The kind of education students received in the university determines what kind of person they will be in a certain degree. Nevertheless, not every person knows which professional fields they are interested in and can do well in at the beginning of their college life. Thus, if university provides the opportunity for students to choose a variety of courses outside their major field, it would be easy for them to find out their real interest and potential lie.(删掉lie)
(此段关联词的运用很好,通过运用这些关联词汇可以让读者感觉到作者思维的层次性很强)

Becoming truly educated also requires sufficient mastery of one academic area to permit a student to contribute meaningfully to society in life. As we all know, various disciplines are related, thus mastery of any specific filed requires some knowledge from other disciplines. For example, without mastering the knowledge philosophy for thinking about problem, a political-science student cannot fully understand the political events in the history.  And computer science is closed tied to mathematics, as mathematics provides the basic factor in its research.
(此段本人觉得写得十分好,语言运用舒服,例证有说明性和代表性。 学习了!~

Nevertheless, unduly emphasize the importance of studying the course outsider may falls into another extreme and eventually make the students neglect the knowledge of their major fields, and thereby have no capability to engage any realm of employment or research work.  Thus students should learn to not overextend themselves in the pursuit of true education.
(提出的反面观点实际且有普遍性,第一遍看觉得例证稍微薄弱了些,但是再研读了一遍觉得写得恰到好处,无需绰言)

In the final analysis, to become truly educated one must find a balance between its professional filed and outside disciplines.  Certainly, students should strive to excel in the specific course they major.
