50  "In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."

The speaker considers it will benefit the instruction at the college and university for all faculty to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to what they teach. As for the situation of today's educational field, i strongly support the statement. Evidently, the experience faculties gain in the program alters the class not only to become enthralling but also to talk about more related to what the students may face during the practice in the near future.

As we all know, the knowledge teached in campus totally differs from what is applied in work and as for how to use it and make it work, it is hardly mastered through the class teaching. In this situation, the college and university, which is not closely connected to the practice and stick to the out-of-date teaching, will definitely fall behind others and lead its students less competent. And the program to send the faculties to work outside the academic worlds in order to combine the professions with what the book tells is right a way to solve the problem. Especially in the subjects which value the working experience and knowledge a lot such as marketing and advertising, the function the program serves is consequently doubled.

Moreover, purely theory teaching is often bland and boring. However, the class would enthrall listeners, which significantly influences the efficiency of learning, once how the content being argued involves the real life, the life around and ahead. Besides, the information about job hunting, such as the quality the job needs and how the company runs ect, is always what the college students concerned. And the program could bring all the above to the class.

In addition, there are several points need to be covered when the program is actually carried out. Firstly, the professions are supposed to be carefully selected to ensure what gained from there is true and new. Secondly, the interest, capacity, health condition of the faculties also need attention. Thirdly, the time of the outside academic world working should be neither too long to affect their regular campus work nor too short to be functional. Only under this condition, can the faculties and professions match and the program work out well.

To sum up, if run smoothly, the program that have the faculty work in the professions related to what they teach outside the college and university certainly improve the competiveness of both the universities and the students there.
no pains, no gains
