In this argument, the arguer concludes that the kappa opioids should be prescribed for women but men should be given other kinds of pain medication. To support this conclusion, the arguer cites a recent report about 28men and 20 women who took the kappa opioids after having their wisdom teech extracted. According to this report, the women felt less pain than the men. Examining this evidence, we will find several flaws lacking of credibility.

In the first place, only 48 people were investigated in this research so it cannot be convincing enough to draw a conclusion representing the majority of people. For those chosen to be investigated, may be there is some differences in habitus between them and the majority of people. For instance, the women chosen to be investigated may have weaker sense of pain than ordinary people while the chosen men may have strong sense of pain than ordinary people.

Secondly, the pain of extracting wisdom teeth cannot represent all other pains people may sense. Since we cannot know whether it will have the same result when women and men facing other kings of pains such as the stomach-ache, the author should provide other reports about other pains in order to show the effect of kappa opioids. Only given reports about other kind of pain, can people draw a conclusion that kappa opioids do have better effect on women.

Last but not least, even if kappa opioids can be proved to be more effective to women, the conclusion of the arguer that women should prescribe kappa opioids whenever they need pain medication is too extreme. I t is completely possible that there still exist a kind of more effective pain medication except from kappa opioids. Besides, although kappa opioids may be proved to be less effective to men, to men, another kind of more effective medication may be exist. Furthermore, the suggestion that the effects of all medications on men versus women should be reevaluate is unpractical for we have no evidence that other medications have suspect effects.

In the final analysis, as the reasons mentioned above, the arguer simply draw a conclusion based on only 48 people and one kind of pain without showing other representative reports about the effect on other kind of pain or other groups of people
