When researchers administered the same dosage of kappa opioids-a painkiller-to 28 men and 20 women who were having their wisdom teeth extracted, the women reported feeling much less pain than the men, and the easing of pain lasted considerably longer in women. This research suggests that kappa opioids should be prescribed for women whenever pain medication is required, whereas men should be given other kinds of pain medication. In addition, researchers should reevaluate the effects of all medications on men versus women.

Basing on the suggestion of a new report that doctors should prescribe different pain medications to men and women because they experience pain quite differently from one another, and an experiment compared between 28men and 20 women, the author claims that the women should be given kappa opioids whenever they suffer pain while men should be given other kinds of pain medication. It seems to be a rational deduction, however, while a close examination would reveal how groundless it is.

To begin with, the author has analyzed the data of the survey with several critical flaws. He or she fails to any information concerning all the details that may lead to an unreasonable conclusion. For instance, there is no information about the specific personal circumstance of each subject in the pain medication poll, such as how old are they, what about their recent health condition, and what the each weight of them is. The information should be the essential part of the basic data of the poll because different situation of these people would result in different reaction of the painkiller medication and also a different conclusion of the investigation. Moreover, the representative of these 28 men and 20 women is also worth considering. Similarly, the author ignores to lend the fact that how much time these people were observed for the effect of kappa opioids for pain killing. It might be entirely possible that the feeling of pain was restrained temporarily. Thus, to improve efficiency, the author should provide more information like something above, or suspicions would be caused to the reliable of the report.

What further weakens the conclusion made by the author is the fact that even if the survey is credible, there is no evidence to prove that women should take the kappa opioids when they suffer any kind of pains while they were only having wisdom teeth extracted. There may be a possibility that the kappa opioids could merely kill the pain of wisdom teeth hurt rather than all pains. In the same way, men might feel less pain and easing of the pain lasted shorter than women when they suffer other kind of pains except the pain on teeth.

The last but not the least, why was the amount of men in the survey more than women. Without the specific standard about their response, we may assert that if there is 28 women as same as men, the extra 8 women may feel much more pain than men and longer easing of pain lasted.

As it stands, the conclusion of this argument is not well reasoned. To make it more logically acceptable, the author has to demonstrate more detailed investigation with solid facts and appropriate deductions, such as, more specific situation about each person in the survey, standardized report information and the effect of the kappa opioids for killing other kinds of pains.
