Are scandals useful in the areas like politics, academia and so on? In my point of view, I do agree that these scandals help us to discover something and thus to prove them, however, like a two-edge sword, we should not pay so much attention to it and should learn from some great people in the world.
Scandals can be seen in many areas like the political, academic, business, recreation and so on, we can learn from the scandals and discover things that are unknown to the public and find ways to rectify them. As for political, the famous scandal "Water Gate scandal", which relates to the US president Nixon who represent the republican, describes how Nixon attempts to steal the campaign strategy from his opponent who speak for the Democratic Party of US. This scandal brings Nixon a notorious fame and he then became the first president who asked for retiring in the US history. When the public heard about scandal like this, they may have a sense that the government is not that justified and this action can be called as mean, they may do not believe in the government. In this situation, the government would know they what they have done can affect the whole society, thus they take every measures to eliminate the improper actions of the officers. So, scandals can stimulate the government to reform itself. In the academic area, scandals spring up in recent years. Skot Ruben, a eminent anesthesiology expert doctor in US forge statistics. Hwang woo-suk, a professor from Seoul National University also plagiarized other people's idea and forge statistics. Nevertheless, we can see that our once saint academic palace has been rotten nowadays and these so called professors or experts are more conscious of the interests than the knowledge itself. This phenomenon reveals a fact that we have focus too much of the amount of treatise than the quality of it, this recognition helps today's academic area to look at itself more clearly and take methods to improve the unfair competition. Scandals are useful in its ability to reveal the invisible facts and force people to rectify the faults.
Though scandals are so useful, we still can not assert too much attention on it. As we all know, when people watch the television or newspapers they tend to focus on the big events or somebody he or she is interested of. These famous people like government officers, famous scholars and some stars' scandals will certainly catch people's eyes, nonetheless, if people focus too much on these scandals, talk with other people about it, search the Internet to broadcast his or her words and so on, thus scandals become an abstraction for their studies and works. However, these scandals are like a strong wind, it will vanish sooner or later like the wind, people's paying too much attention on the scandals will be of no use and even affect their daily life and work or study.
Some great people in the world are also worth our attention. For instance, US president Abraham Lincoln brought the world some renowned things like Homestead Art, The Emancipation Proclamation, which has benefited the world and inspired us a lot. Gandhi, leader of India and Indian independent movement gave his progeny not only a peaceful country but also a spirit treasure. China's great leader Deng Xiaoping, who publicized the Reform and opening up policy, has made the country become independent and strong. We should pay attention to these outstanding persons in order to learn from them and have more inspirations.
In sum, albeit scandals are useful in many circumstances, we should use it properly and moderately so as to get what we want from them. On the other hand, we should pay attention to some great persons in the world, they can not be neglected.
