The fundamental obligation for scholars and researchers is to explore the unknown world in advance of all human beings. During the painstaking discoverying process, comparing individual interests of the scolars and researchers with that of the contributions they made, which aspects should we focus on? On balance, between those two aspects, interests seems play a relatively long-lasting role.


Generally speaking, pursuing the objectives according to individual intersets is an effective way in exploration. People who takes the individual interests as the fundamental point of departure are more likely to devote oneself whole-heatedly into the exploration, and will keep passion with the study he/she makes, consequently filled with more insparations. Interests are the best catalyzer in any form of discovery and exploration. It was the swirl in the bathtub that aroused the great interests of Coriolis to discover the Coriolis effect; it was the magical apple that aptly hit the great physicist Newton’s head to disclose the mysterious veil of gravity; it was the carefree birds flying in the capacious sky that intrigue the ambition of Wright Brothers to invent the airplanes to fullfill the flight dream of huamn beings. Bolstered by great interests, scholars and researchers make great contributions to the world.

Admittedly, completely giving way to interests will sometimes give rise to detrimental effects. Interests kindle the fire of exploration, the following result will be brightness or conflagration, nobody can predict it. Some studys made by scholars and researchers’ interests violate the nature of humanity. For example, human cloning, it is the dream of researchers and scientists to build a perfect clone human, it is indeed a desirable and interesting work. However, due to the immature technique and imcomplete social system, chaos and related social problems will be aroused by this scientific research, human cloning should not be inspired contemporarily merely because of researchers’ great interests yet social conditions are required to take into account.



However, simply aiming to make contributions to the society but overlooking the influence of interests to the researchs is unreliable. This will neglect some significant acomplishements to some extent. Some achievements goes ahead of society. Great inventor Thomas Edison’s very first invention is an electronic voting machine, but it was not prevalently applied at that time. Untill recently, this patent is used in election meetings.
Another example, in the era when Darwinism was prevailing, Mandel, an Austrian monk, were interested in discoverying novelty, sought to figure out something “unchanged” in the process of evolution while his peer scientists were believed in “change”. After eight years of experiment with peas, this Austrian scientist hammered out the mathematical principles of inheritance and sent 40 copies of his result to contemporarily renowned scientists, but most of them didn’t response. His endeavor seems rejected by the society since it didn’t make any contribution to the conpemporary society. Nevertheless, people failed to realize the value of his work until the dawn of the 20th
century when his posthumouspapers were found.

To sum up,people who only concern the result of discovery and exploration is biased since some contribution didn’t show untill several years later. Blindly focusing on the result will impede the development of science, thus the interests should be the significant factor calls for concerntration.
However scholars and researchers’ interests should be limited in certain boundaries such as moral standards and humanity. Within these boundaries, giving the rein to one’s interests and imagination to pursue the goal with content. The development of human beings will be promising
