While the assertion has merits, I think it unfairly generalize about the style of ethical and moral. It is essential for a public official to be an effective leader to keep high ethical and moral standards, not unnecessary, the highest.

In the one hand, keeping high ethical and moral standards is a objective standard of public official itself. With a good ethical and moral standard the public official will easily win the support and trust of the people in the modern society. Such is human nature that people always like a better person than himself to a leader especial for the realm of ethical. The president of Taiwan area, MA ying-jeou who is called by the no-stick pan of political has good ethical and moral standard. In his 30 years of policy career, refuting the tempting of the corruption and sex, he has no record of the corruption and sex scandal. However, the highest ethical and moral is unnecessary to the public official. This is obvious a action of the competitors. Second, the policies leader should be loyal to the party and the nation instead of being the chairman of spirit. Owning rather high ethical and moral will become a professor of kingdom school but an officer. Finally, completely expressing all the flaw of the ethical and moral in the life will make more voters lose their confidence. Common sense tells us that any man will have no disadvantages. President Bush used to be a playboy in his young age, but the American people still choose him after 40 years.

To sum up, the ethical and moral standards is essential for all the political officers but the highest one is not suitable for all of them. Judging a good public leader need considering more factors from the loyal of party, nation and people. Overlooking the ethical and moral factor is harmful to the public official.
